Last weekend I went away with Shane and his family to a place near Hartebeespoort dam. We spent the weekend lazing around, going for walks, eating groot stukkies of biltong, drinking milkshakes and going to the craft market in harties, which was quite an experience. I think the Americans are not going to know what hit them in june – everyone is so super eager to sell you stuff and it’s quite hard to say no, but you have to or else you’re going to land up going home with divorce papers and a trailer full of things that would make the Rosebank flea market african section look like childsplay. The coolest thing I saw there was a wooden Noah’s Ark, so super awesome and the strangest thing: the blinged out gold and diamante watches. What? I don’t know.
I did obviously land up buying something, well 2 things – a hanging mat made by John, it’s in our house right now, blessing it. And a nice African themed leather belt, i’m not going to lie when I say that I don’t really like african things – I’m one of those people who wishes we could have the world’s biggest wooden giraffe bonfire, one that can be seen out any window of any spaceship, but I sure do like this belt.
We also went to the snake park, where we met David Jones who is attempting to break the world record for living the longest in a room with 40 venomous snakes, I think the current record is 160 days. Why someone would want to break or even create this record is beyond me. Now a “who’s eaten the most pancakes” record I can appreciate. I tried to see if one existed, it does not. so I am officially saying that I hold it, cause I’ve just imagined myself eating 613 pancakes and they were flipping delicious.
*One more thing, does anyone know what Granny P means? It came on one of the love sweets we were eating. Am I that old that I have no idea what that means?! Ha!
Gary found the answer to Granny P: There was a nationwide competition to have your own personal message immortalised on a Love Heart. The winner chose a bunch of messages and one was Granny P, after his mom Anne Peterson who had passed away

gary found this on the interweb:
There was a nationwide competition to have your own personal message immortalised on a Love Heart.
The winner chose the following messages
Think Pink, Joyful Jo, Granny P, Me Julie Best Mum, Juicy Jessie, I Luv Alan, Happy Harry, Heart Baby, Kin of U Home and Mermaid Eloise.
Granny P was my mother Anne Peterson from Greenock, my daughter Jo always called her Granny P. My wife and i had twins boys, sadly after my mother passed away . My Wife entered the competition thinking it would be nice for Jo and a memory for the twins, Jack & Dyaln that Granny P never knew.
So that answers ‘who is Granny P ‘ a kind and loving mother & Granny who is greatly missed
