COOL STUFF, photography

Canvas Print Co

October 27, 2021

A couple of weeks ago contacted me to ask if I’d like something printed and framed for my home. They were super keen for me to try out their nifty online service and I was only too happy to see how it worked and it get a lovely piece for our walls.

So, I have no doubt that this is a common problem, but how many of you actually have time or know where to go to have high-quality prints made and afterwards framed or mounted and then delivered straight to your front door?

Winter is coming

gray-label7

Just recently I have discovered a local online store called Kind that brings in beautiful organic baby/kids clothing from the awesome Gray Label who honestly make some of the softest, comfiest clothing I have ever bought my kids, not to mention well designed and void of any big logos, and weird slogans that often ruin things by trying to make them relevant’. I hate that!

Churche: I can see a ghost

Churche--I-can-see-a-ghost

I haven’t posted a Churche shoot in a while so I’m pretty amped to share this one with you all. Adi and I met this young clothing designer named Jacques Bam who creates amazing outfits out of all sorts of colours and fabrics and who loves experimenting with texture, shape and style. As soon as we saw his collection we knew we wanted to shoot it for something, anything.

So we set up a shoot in a dilapidated house that had literally been abandoned by its owners, as in there was still some of their stuff lying around, old family photos, videotapes, CD’s, books, documents and of course posters of the Backstreet Boys, I kid you not.  Not only did we get to shoot in this crazy space, but we got to dress one of the most amazing faces, which belongs to this young model named Janeke Gouws in Jaques creations.

Scarred-2

The project that I am about to share with you guys is one that I’m extremely proud of because a number of people have put a lot of love, effort and emotion into it. I’m also so thankful that I got to be a part of something that celebrates amazingly strong women who have taught me to appreciate life a little more, what with all it’s pitfalls, highs and lows.

My friends Adi Koen, Nicola Cooper and I got together a few months ago to create and shoot a series made up of sixteen phenomenal women (including Nicola) who have survived really traumatic and in some cases life-threatening events and now proudly wear the scars that represent those times in their lives as badges of honour.

We met with everyone to hear and document their stories and to photograph them and their scars, creating portraits and tributes that celebrate their journeys and triumphs. After we took their photos we then sent them to fourteen of South Africa’s most talented illustrators and artists and asked them to create a unique armour out of lines, paint and forms, cladding them in one-of-kind items of clothing designed specifically for them.

Living Yoga-8

Hey guys my next post is all about a shoot that I did with Adi under Churche for the wonderful Sarah Bentz who is the owner of Living Yoga in Craighall. Sarah is a certified Jivamukti teacher and works with the most amazing team of like-minded teachers and I had the honour of spending the afternoon with her and one of her team members Jo. We chased the light in the most amazing heritage house on Jan Smuts and I’m so so pleased with how these images turned out.

Below are just a few of the shots from the series I really hope you like them and as always all comments are welcome and as well as all enquiries 🙂 If you would like to work with Adi and I then just drop me a mail and we hopefully we can make something awesome together soon!
