If you are looking for something to do this Sunday in Johannesburg that’ll have your sweet teeth doing the Macarena in your mouth, then look no further than Unit 8, 16 High Road, Bramley, Jo’burg. This Sunday is the launch of Ice Cream Sunday, which is a collaboration between Dope Donuts, Paul’s Homemade Ice Cream and UNIT8 [run by Prep’ed by Sasha]. This event is set to be a monthly day of indulgence, so every last Sunday of the month, get your stretchy pants out and head on down to UNIT8.
This Friday, the 4th of April we have a new exhibition opening at Wolves, it’s called Berg and it’s by a very talented young artist called Martin Rossouw (I will obviously do another post when all his work is up on our blue walls). See you Friday xx
– “Berg is Martin Rossouw’s first illustration exhibition exploring some of the colourful characters living in his mind. The series will feature some crazy mountains, each with a specific theme. Apart from the mountains themselves, there will also be the kooky inhabitants and a glimpse into their solitary everyday lives in these mountains.”
We haven’t had some art up at Wolves for the last couple of months, but we are very happy to kick off the year with some very very cool prints from a very very cool illustrator named Lara Meintjes who originates from South Africa, but now lives in California.
Her quirky watercolor paintings of half animals and half humans are not only charming, but so well done. Each one is unique and quirky and I think if you come in you’re going to have a hard time choosing which one you like best.
So Valentines Day is coming up soon and even though it is pretty lame and a huge money making racket, I can’t help but like it. I like getting spoilt on the day, I like all the hearts and the sweetness of it and I love having yet another excuse to stuff my round face with chocolate bars, but hey that could just be me.
There are 2 things happening in our neighbourhood leading up to and after this big day, so I thought I would fill you guys in, in case you would like to participate because I think both events are going to be super super fun!
Wolves is hosting yet another comedy evening this month and this time we having it on Valentines Day. So if you are still thinking about what to do on the day of love, why not book a table or seat with us and come have a laugh or 10 while you stuff your face with some red cake and beer, or whatever takes your fancy…
