Have a seat or 10.

November 23, 2012

Nick (a.k.a Nikki Boo Boo Child) and I are busy designing the inside of Instant Grass’s new office in Braamfontien. It’s one of the first jobs of this nature that we are working on, but it’s been such a lot of fun thinking of ideas and sourcing stuff. I really hope we get to do more of this kind of work in the future – hint hint.

We are busy putting the whole thing together now and when it’s done I will be sure to show you guys the whole thing. We have had some stuff especially made for the space and some of it arrived today.

These hexagon stools are designed so that you can push them together to make a coffee table or pull them a part so they can be used as seating.

I think they came out pretty cool. Yes?

*Here are some snaps of the massive desk we had made for them and a cool bike light that we hung above it.

Erin Case collages

November 22, 2012

This is the visually intriguing work of one Miss Erin Case. I stumbled across her stuff last night, I’m not going to lie I had slightly weird dreams and I think these images were to blame.

– Erin Case is an award winning visual artist based in Midland, Michigan, with a focus in collage. She creates collages that mix the old, new and unknown into a beautiful, surreal and perfectly balanced mess.

Jennifer Davis Bang bang

November 14, 2012

This morning I had the pleasure of laying my eyes on these quirky paintings by Jennifer Davis who is based in Minneapolis, MN, USA. These are custom hand-painted paper shooting targets and the best part is you can pick the target and she’ll paint it up for you. Jennifer welcomes suggestions or she will just surprise you.

I like piano scalp, he’s lovely. I would buy him and shoot him with high-5’s everyday.

*You can buy them from here.

The Collector’s Edition

October 29, 2012

A few months back a young lady by the name of Amber mailed to ask me if I would be keen to be a part of her university project. She was designing a zine that was all about people and their collections. She came around to my house to interview me and take pictures of my ceramic animal collection so that she could illustrate them at a later stage.

I met her, we chatted, I smiled for some photographs and then a few days ago she sent me the finished product and I love it. It’s such a cool little piece and I think she has done a pretty damn good job at designing it.

Thanks Amber for thinking of me and for drawing me and my ceramics so beautifully. Amber is also going to send me a hardcopy, which I’m going to keep till I’m old and buried under my inevitable future collection of 6378 ceramic animals. Sorry Shanie.

Here are a few pages from the zine, I have also included a few of the other people she illustrated.

Pat perry

October 23, 2012

Pat Perry your plait people make me very happy.

– Pat Perry is an artist and illustrator from Michigan. The lands of the north, the people he meets, and ordinary Midwestern streets have always moved him. Making drawings each day is his attempt to digest the indegistable; seemingly indescribable life experience, and the ephemeral acquaintances and scenery that is carried along with such encounters, situations and chapters. In between showing his art or working on an assortmant of creative projects, Pat travels quite frequently. Although he is happy to be able to speak and have an audience through his artwork, he does his best everyday to listen and learn from the world he lives in.
