All that glitter and gold.

February 9, 2012

Look at this gold and horsey beauty I found at an antique store on Long Street in CT. This pair cost me a meer R40 smackers. Aren’t they lovely?

Speaking of gold, do any of you know where I can buy gold paint to paint ceramics/glass with (like below)? Or does anyone know who does it? I’m desperately seeking some, any help would be appreciated.

I am not sure about paint but I know you would be able to find gold glazes at any pottery shop but glazes need to be fired http://www.potters.co.za

    Those are beautiful!
Yip gold glazes or lustre is an option but lustre is not cheap and also has to be fired on.
Gold leaf is probably a good option but apparently is pretty hard to get really neat…

I just happened to see this tutorial now, http://honestlywtf.com/diy/diy-gold-dipped-glassware/. They just used spray paint and it’s not as shiny, but it still looks pretty good.

How cool. Love the vases too- so simple but really effective.

I think the tray was done in Gold Leaf – can be tricky but I’m sure youtube has some tuts on it.
They used gold leaf often in those home makeover shows on BBC – random.

Martine Jackson has used gold ceramic paint quite beautifully. Here’s one example: http://www.mjvisual.co.za/ceramics_3thighpot-1a.html

We’ve also got some of her work at our flat which I’ll eventually photograph and twitpic to you 🙂
