A little while ago Anna-Belle and I went to Vicky Cristina’s in the The Colony Shopping Centre. It was my first time visiting this restaurant as I’m always popping into Pronto (one of my favourite places to eat) when I’m in that area, but I’m glad I tried it out.
Vicky Cristina’s feels more like a night time spot then a day time one, as the colour scheme is predominantly black and red, but their food is good and I can imagine that it tastes the same day or night. The menu boasts a large variety of tapas meals, but it does have some full meals on it to.
Now if you’re anything like me, you don’t like sharing your food. I have never been a great lover of this concept, especially when my big fat Greek face is hungry, but on this night I decided to embrace the tapas culture of sharing and I’m glad I did. We ordered a bunch of different things and instead of experiencing a bout of food envy, which happens from time to time, I got to dig into everything and I was stuffed and happy by the end of it.
We decided on five different dishes. We had the Garlic Mushrooms topped with Onions and Mozzarella, Chorizo and Potato, Crumbed Halloumi with Aubergine Purée, Aniseed-scented Pork Belly with sherry Macerated Apples and the Crispy Calamari. we even managed to stuff a Chilli Chocolate Lava Cake with Vanilla Ice-cream in afterwards.
Everything was really good, in fact while I type this I’m wishing I had a bowl of their Pork Belly pieces, those things were like crispy bacon flavoured popcorn mmmmmm…
Apparently Vicky Cristina’s is pretty happening on a Friday and Saturday, so if you’re looking for a place that not only serves good food and extensive booze list, but has a festive atmosphere to, then check them out. For a full review on this restaurant, click through to Jobest.
