Kiekies – No. 4 – Wolfeyebrows

May 28, 2014

cath-green-20

I haven’t posted one of these in a while, so today I thought I would introduce you all to my friend Cath who goes by the name Wolfeyebrows on Instagram. She is a talented illustrator who lives and works in Cape Town and lately she has been flooding (in the best way) her Instagram feed with monthly illustrative projects, which are just too awesome. Each month she chooses a different theme and then she draws a picture a day. Below I have included some of my favourite illustrations from her so far.

Berg an exhibition by Martin Rossouw

April 22, 2014

Martin-Rossouw-4

Martin Rossouw’s work is till up at Wolves, it’ll be there until the end of the month. There are some really nice pieces and what’s cool is you can buy them individually or as a set of 3 and the idea behind this show is idea is simple and fun – He’s drawn a mountain, who lives in the mountain and what a small piece of their home inside it looks like. These are all priced super well too, framed they are R450, unframed R350 and for a set of of 3 framed you’re looking at R1100, which is nothing. They’re a nice size too, bigger than an A4 but square is shape (these are not all the prints, there are quite a few more).

An Exhibition of Peculiar Creatures by Lara Meintjes

February 27, 2014

lara-meintjies--1

We haven’t had some art up at Wolves for the last couple of months, but we are very happy to kick off the year with some very very cool prints from a very very cool illustrator named Lara Meintjes who originates from South Africa, but now lives in California.

Her quirky watercolor paintings of half animals and half humans are not only charming, but so well done. Each one is unique and quirky and I think if you come in you’re going to have a hard time choosing which one you like best.

Jean de Wet

November 12, 2013

jean-de-wet-11

Jean de Wet is one of my all time favourite South African illustrators. I own quite a few of hie pieces and slowly but surly we’re getting to hang them all up. This morning I unpacked this little set that we bought at his last joint exhibition in JHB. They are 4 original drawings of the sweetest houses, in fact I would kill to live in a house shaped like one of these little guys.

I have included some of his latest line creations so you can ooh and aaa over just how much detail goes into one of his pieces. So good!

Places to visit in Paris

October 22, 2013

tuck shop

Here is another post on some places to visit in Paris that I would like to recommend. Shane found this super sweet little coffee shop online called Tuck Shop, I think he was drawn to it because of it’s name (Desmond’s very first album is called Tuck Shop). We hunted it down and it really was such a cute spot, that served the best cup of coffee of the whole trip. Coffee in general in Paris sucked, now I’m not claiming to be a coffee buff, because I’m flipping far from one, but I’d like to think that I know when I’m having a nice cup of coffee and from what my face could tell the majority of the stuff I was slurping down was super average, except here. Tuck Shop was warm and inviting and the owner was really nice and their food and cookies were amazing (you would swear I had shares in this place). If you’re in Paris, pop in and definitely have a chocolate chip cookie – yikes, yum!
