I was going through some of stuff the other day and I came across my old Hello Kitty compact from when I was a wee little child growing up in the suburbs. This thing gave me so much joy. I remember how I used to sit in the middle of a big rug my mom had in the TV room and comb the tasseled edges of it out with this very comb. I wouldn’t stop until each piece was dead straight – this was fun to me by the way ha!
Anyway I still have this little mirrored piece of my childhood and I still have one of my granny’s old compacts, that I have blogged about before. It was given to her when she was 19 by a suitor that really fancied her. Now days you get a friend request on Facebook and a high-5 if you’re lucky.
I thought I would photograph them together. I love the contrast of the 2 and the fact that they are both old and represent 2 very different times in each of our lives. My granny’s is over 60 years old and mine about 25 years years old. Damn I’m old.
Love them both! Tenderness <3
Oh my goodness – I just had a flashback to my childhood where I had the exact same Hello Kitty comb set. Not sure where it is now… Wish I did so I could give it to my daughter – she is 2 and has just discovered she is a girl which means lipstick, combs and mirrors 😉
