Eyes you needs some creams.

August 23, 2011

I guess we all get to the age when we need to start using eye cream and even though I think I should of started quite a while back already, I have only just recently starting investing some time and money into it. The only thing is, I just hate that it’s such a process to find the right one, because spending R900 (which is what my friend did on Saturday) on a tube doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s going to knock every fine line off your face, or de-puff your puffs so that you look like a newborn Angelina Jolie. I mean one that costs R90 could do a better job, but how are we suppose to know? Because your fancy facial lady sure as hell is not going to tell you that the affordable stuff is just as good as the one you pay for in gold bars.

So I have decided to take it upon myself to find one that I like. And I have started this process with this Ren Active 7 Radiant Eye Gel. I liked the simple packaging and the fact that it smelt like a clean scientist, so in my basket it went. I think the price was middle of the road, I spent R300 on it and so far, so good. I have been using it for about a week and a half now and the skin around my eyes feels moisturised and soft and I haven’t had a bad reaction to it in any way. Unlike my friend Lauren who bought a Nimue eye cream for R400 and landed up with a slightly burnt area of skin under her eye. Literally.

So if anyone wants to recommend an eye cream, go ahead. I have no doubt that there are a few people, including myself that will appreciate the input. And no, me and my peepers are not being paid my Ren to write this, in case you were wondering xx

I use the eye cream from the body shop. its R90 for a small tube that lasts me more than 6 months – even when you loose the lid which you will the cream just keeps on going. (its the pink vitamin E one) Hard to say if its the miracle cream but I like to think it works and its good for the environment.

What age would you say you need to start this?

REN is lovely. It looks all scientific, but whoever the scientist was didn’t poke the cream into any bunny’s eyes to test that it wouldn’t hurt ours. Thumbs up for both Body Shop and REN!

I started using eye cream a little while ago, which I feel is a little ridiculous because I am only 22, however I have heard it’s best to start young! Anyway, I use Clinique’s All About Eyes, and I think you can either get a light-weight one or an extra rich one, what’s best for you depends on your skin type. I really like it because it provides just that extra bit of moisture to make the area nice and supple, and it’s really mild which I think suits younger skin. I think it’s pretty reasonable from what I remember and a small tub lasts me like 2 years!

If you’re up to trying some awesome products i recommend organic, environmentally friendly and animal friendly Victorian Garden products. They smell and feel great – check them out here http://www.thevictoriangarden.co.za/history.htm

PS You have the best skin I have ever seen in my life (i even told my boyfriend about your lovely skin) so its no biggie you’re only starting with the eye cream now

First a used Dr. Hauschka and my facial lady informed me it wasn’t doing i thing which is why i needed the R900 Babor one. Hmmmmm… will let you know how that goes. I think i started too late anyway – my wrinkles are set!

I use the same Ren eye gel as you are using and have done for ages, its great. I also use the Organic Body Shop eye cream as sometimes only a cream (as oppsoed to gel) will do.

I have tried Nivea’s Aqua Sensation Anti-Shadow eye cream. It’s been great, leaving my eyes feeling refreshed and soft all day long. I’ve been using it for about 3 weeks now, I didn’t really have any under eye shadows before so can’t say I have noticed a difference there, but the skin around my eyes is less dry and feels soft 🙂 I have just started trying out Clinique’s All About Eye’s as I got a free sample, its much richer than Nivea and feels good too, but again, I have yet to notice anything special. I guess prevention is better than cure!

I also use the Body shop Vitamin E range eye cream and I love it! Works really well, love all their products! And they are reasonably prices.

I am also of opinion that using something good for the environment is crucial…. so, I recommend the brand “Just Pure” – its organic, its local* (yay) and it is super affordable. For under R300 you can get a seaweed mask, facial humidifier, moisturizing lotion, and whatnot 🙂

But….The main branch is in Hermanus 🙁 BUT Wellness Warehouse recently started stocking Just Pure. The only thing is, that the peeps at Wellness don’t know what they are talking about, and one needs some help with choosing the correct lotion etc. So I would contact Just Pure directly…. 🙂
