Quite a few years ago I bought my very first real piece of art from a gallery in Cape Town. It was this Richard Heart print entitled “who ever you want me to be”. I was so desperate to own one of his original paintings that were on sale that night, but they were a bit too pricey for me back then. Even the framed print was quite a bit, but I loved it and I’m so happy I bought it because it started my obsession with art.
I have only just seen now that he has some new work out that was on display at the KZNSA before being shipped off to New York. This man is so talented and one day I hope to have an original Richard Hart hanging up in our home.

I was at the opening of that exhibition and I have to say it was the most well planned and executed exhibition I have been to in recent years. Richard’s skills are out of this world, and with all that he has going on I can’t imagine how he has the time to produce work of this quality. I have friends who work in his studio and from what they tell me he’s an inspiration.
