New things to make me feel a little better.

April 16, 2012

For a while now Shane and I have been battling to get a bond for a flat that we found about a month ago, that we both fell in love with instantly. We have been going though such trauma with every single bank and SA Home Loans, they have all denied us twice and all because we are freelancers and because we own our businesses. We have tried everything to get this place and it’s been quite an emotional journey, which has now come to an end, leaving us without the flat of our dreams and all because we’re out here trying to make it for ourselves. Not sure of any of you have been through the same ordeal, if you have, you know that it is not awesome. It’s draining and frustrating and no matter what solution you come up with, it’s just not good enough. And we’re not even asking for that much, which is the worst part. If any of you have experienced this, all I can say is, I know how you feel….

So on Friday, after the last bank called us and denied the bond once again I decided to take myself to the shops and give some of my money to people who actually wanted it. I know this seems like a weird way to deal with something like this, but I just kind of thought, stuff it. So Shane got a bunch of cool stuff and I came home with these few pieces.

Found this pretty silk blouse with a print made out of leopard heads. I love the pattern and I love the little gold button detail on the collar. Thought it was such a nice touch. I found this guy at Zara.

Another thing I snagged was this grey jersey from Country Road that I have been eyeing out for quite some time now. It’s so comfy, I think it’s going to be one of my favourites this Winter.

I also brought home this paisley silk blouse, which also comes from Zara.

You could always try and negotiate a long term lease agreement with the option to buy? There’s more than one way to skin a cat. You’d need some mad negotiating skills though. Lawyer up!

I am so sorry to hear it…
Yikes! I am trying to move out of the home of the parentals, so I understand!
Ah that is why kids should never wish to grow up sooner than later.

Ooh lots of gorgeousness! Pity about the bond but when we were buying a few years ago we missed out on a few flats we were in love with. We’d mope about for a week or two and then promptly find another flat we loved. In the end the one we bought really was ‘The One’ so don’t worry, I’m sure everything will work out in the end. x

At my job everyone here got bonds for their houses, everyone except the owner of the company, also because she is “self employed”.. ridiculous banks..

In the end SA home loans did give her one though.. after printouts worth years of credit card statements and such

Sorry to hear about all the shenanigans the banks have put you through. But on a much happier note, you look gorgeous in your new things! I bought the exact same Country Road knit today, and it makes me feel all snuggly and happy!

Retail therapy ALWAYS makes sense! PS sorry about the bond – financial institutions can be so stupid – just look at the mess the States is in! x

Hi Angie, so sorry to hear this, it’s so unfair. You guys are doing exactly what everyone should be doing – taking the bull by the horns and doing something you love. You guys are inspirational in all that you have achieved, and I really hope that something works out with buying a beautiful flat in the end. x
