When I took my family’s old passports to be framed I also took these drawings that I did of my parents when I was young. These were Christmas presents that I gave them one year – a one of kind, signed original by A.Batis. Hahaha it has all the important bits, the Merry Xmas, the part about loving them, the eyes that look like bicycle spokes, because i’m such a sucker for detail and then obviously my signature, because no great piece of art is complete without one. Obviously.
I’m so happy that my mom kept them. I stole them back a while ago and I have been wanting to do something with them for long. Then I remembered this black and white photo of my parents that I took quite a few years ago at my cousin’s wedding. I have always loved this picture, so I thought that I would frame all 3 together – so it’s how my eyes saw them and how my saw hands saw them.
I love these 2 people more than anything!
That’s super rad! I have been longing to make something exactly like this…
My mom kept a book with our letters in. My favorite is from my brother who, when he was a little boy living in England, wrote my mom a letter saying that when he was big and working he would give her 2p (pence) a week. Shame – my brother thought 2p was a lot of money!
Ah! This is so special!!
those are so cute! my mom still has a mothers day card i drew of her where i said my favorite thing about her was that she got me things i liked at the grocery store. i love the idea of framing it with a photo!
You have the best ideas ever! I’m still not over the passport one and now you whip this out on me, goodness! (:
we love you always and beyond,
dad and mom.
Thats really beautiful and clever – well done!
