Enamel love and Harrie’s Pannekoek Huis

February 20, 2012

Yesterday Shane and I went on a little trip to Cullinan and I came home with some enamel love. I have been looking everywhere for plain white roatsing pans like these and now I have 2, as well as 2 pastel coloured serving dishes. I can just imagine some lavender cupcakes floating around on those lovelies. I also bought some enamel bowls for Wolves and some mini mugs to use as bill folders. I could of bought so much more, but I held back, seeing as my kitchen is busting at the seams already. I love kitchenware, I could spend muchos moola on it.

We also went to Harrie’s Pannekoek Huis where I had, for the first time ever, a pannekoek with milk tart custard in it. Holy bazookas, it was amazing. I was so tempted to lick my plate, but I didn’t want to embarrass my husband. I loved the actual house that this little restaurant was in, just wish that Harrie had decked it out old school style, instead it was quite modern inside, which didn’t really suit the menu or the town. If this was my place it would feel like you’re 6 years old and stuffing your face in your granny’s kitchen in 1956. How cool are the ladies in the last photo. Loved their umbrella colour blocking.

I’m thinking of maybe having my birthday in this town, pannekoek and horse riding – friends, you have been warned hehe.

*I want to try sell some enamel stuff at Wolves. Would you guys be interested?

I’m going to Cullinan this weekend and now I’m definitely having those pancakes!
Also went there for a weekend with friends – there are lots of lovely houses to rent (we stayed at The Station Master’s Cabin – http://stationmasterscabin.blogspot.com/) and you HAVE TO eat at the Greek restaurant, I am still dreaming about the meze platter I had there!

Trust me, you’ll get stuck at As Greek as it Gets and just want to roll around till you reach a lawn with a blankie and Scrabble.

Ooh, love all your enamel goodies! One of my neighbours has a couple of those little mugs. My son loves visiting her and he always gets a wee bit of juice in it 🙂

I grew up in cullinan, it is a lovely town, but very sleepy. glad its making some money from tourists though. my house was by the golfcourse right in front of the koppie. Its all changed so much though, they have squeezed like trillions of little houses in everywhere en even the street lay out has changed. 🙂
