I’m so excited to share this next post with you guys, one because it has to do with Skinny laMinx’s new fabric range called Brise Soleil which is absolutely awesome and two because I’m giving away a R1000 voucher (scroll down for competition details) to one of you so you can pop online and shop the range for your home.
For those of you who don’t know Heather Moore is the brainchild behind Skinny laMinx, she’s the one that imagines, creates and designs these beautiful fabrics and I always get so excited when I hear that there is a new range out because I know that it won’t disappoint.
This time around Heather approached four furniture manufacturers in Cape Town, Pauline Mutlow, Emma de Crespigny, Dan Saks of Saks, Carla Erasmus and Christa Botha with the idea of introducing the new fabrics, showcased on signature furniture pieces. They all came out amazingly and I would gladly have any one of these couches in my house.
– The Brise Soleil collection is a mix of cool shades of grey, rich tropical blues and fresh pale greens, which Heather hopes to communicate a sense of much-needed mid-century optimism, which evokes cool protection, dappled light, and the simple pleasure of a repeating pattern.
-Mid-century style has become very much in vogue these days, possibly because we long for more optimistic times, before we noticed that our planet is hotting up. Perhaps it’s time to stop building glass-clad airconditioned edifaces, and rather to use humble brick and concrete blocks that provide shade, security, ventilation, privacy and beautiful pattern too. These thoughts have inspired Moore to create three textile designs in a new fabric collection called BRISE SOLEIL.
