This is the very cool work of Matthew Palladino, he is a young artist that lives in San Francisco, CA and Philadelphia PA. I don’t know much about him but I do know that I like his very colourful and sometimes very dark art pieces. I’m not very good at being all arty when I describe stuff that I like so I will just leave it the Eli Ridgway Gallery, take it away guys.
– Artist Matthew Palladino presents compositionally and spatially complex works on paper that seamlessly fuse disparate imagery and cultural ideals. Engaging in its illusionism, the work is comprised of pictorial tensions and layers of meaning that pull the viewer into repeated examination of the subject matters pictured and their significance. Drawing upon the visual language of illustration and graphic design, the pieces playfully reference pop culture, art history, the carnivalesque, and moralistic pitfalls.
Matthew Palladino (born 1986, San Francisco) has recently had solo exhibitions at Baer Ridgway Exhibitions (2010, San Francisco), Fredericks & Freiser (2011, New York) and the New Art Dealers Alliance Art Fair (2010, Miami). His work is in the collection of the Whitney Museum of American Art as well as numerous private collections.
This is my description of his work: Matthew Palladino’s work can be described as the merging of man and acid. A magical journey through the sights, thoughts and emotions of one man’s many acid trips.
