I haven’t posted a Churche shoot in a while so I’m pretty amped to share this one with you all. Adi and I met this young clothing designer named Jacques Bam who creates amazing outfits out of all sorts of colours and fabrics and who loves experimenting with texture, shape and style. As soon as we saw his collection we knew we wanted to shoot it for something, anything.
So we set up a shoot in a dilapidated house that had literally been abandoned by its owners, as in there was still some of their stuff lying around, old family photos, videotapes, CD’s, books, documents and of course posters of the Backstreet Boys, I kid you not. Not only did we get to shoot in this crazy space, but we got to dress one of the most amazing faces, which belongs to this young model named Janeke Gouws in Jaques creations.
Whilst taking these photos the same story kept popping up in my mind. I kept imaging Janeke as a lonely, sad ghost who wanders around this haunted house every day wishing she had someone to share her time with.

I love your imagery, this is not my taste but perfectly executed.
Thanks so much for the comment 🙂 Ja listen, I don’t think many people would be prancing around town in these, but to shoot they’re just magical 🙂
Wow! Love this!
Thanks so much! I appreciate the comment 🙂
Incredible shoot!
But the nosey person within me can only think of is why did the people who lived there abandon their home, what happened? Also, how did you come across the house? (Who let you in?) All these questions!
Hahhaha! I’m the same as you I also want to know everything. A friend of mine used to use one of the rooms downstairs to paint in, so she got permission from the now owners and let us in 🙂 Not sure where or why the family left stuff behind, but the house was knocked down a couple of months ago. The land is being used to build fancy townhouses. Do you know that big Greek looking house in Hyde Park, the very very over the top one with all the statues on the outside? This house was next door to it 🙂
