If you have a kid or two you will know that packing a bag to take down with you to the beach is quite a task because it feels like you need anything and everything just in case someone is thirsty, hungry, bored, sleepy, feeling arty…well you get the picture.
I was in the Eastern Cape a little while back where Shane’s mom has a cottage that is literally like 20 steps from Riet River and 50 meters away from one of the most beautiful and peaceful beaches I have ever been on. I love it when we go stay there because you literally get to have the whole place to yourself, which is amazing. On this holiday I had to pack lots of the bags that I mentioned above, so on one of the afternoons I decided to pack one for myself too full of things that I like and reckoned I might need whilst lazing on the beach.
Every beach bag needs a few things that are mandatory like a hat, sunscreen, sunglasses, a Venus Snap Razor, a towel and a bat and ball, but I decided that mine also needed a few chocolates and a giant blow-up donut shaped lilo because you never know when you’re going to need a giant blow-up donut shaped lilo. All these things came in handy especially the donut which offered me ample support while I stuffed my face with chocolates as the sweet sweet sun shone down on me. And speaking of things that are sweet, look at my Nina James in her cozie with her fishing net, she absolutely loved the beach, we couldn’t get her off it.
