We’re renting our house in Craighall Park

August 19, 2019

Shane and I have finally finished our house project in Craighall Park and now it’s all ready for new tenants. So if you are keen to rent our newly renovated house made up of 3 bedrooms, a study (can be an office/4th bedroom), 2 bathrooms, open-plan kitchen and living area, which comes with an outside studio/flatlet and a bathroom, then please mail me on or check it out on Private Property. It’s pet-friendly and it has a nice big back yard.

When we first bought this house I literally dubbed it ‘The Ugliest House in Craighall Park’. The fixtures were odd, the kitchen made no sense, size and placement wise. The bathrooms reminded me of a bowl of a cold beige soup. The whole place was swimming in beige tiles and old carpets that were once upon a time, I’m guessing, beige!

We were only going to do a few cosmetic changes to the place but landed up ripping everything out and starting from scratch and I’m glad we did because now it’s anything but The Ugliest House in Craighall Park. Yay!

This is the outside studio. The bathroom is through that doorway.

When we started renovating a friend of mine told me about a place called Leroy Merlin. Basically, it’s like a homeware/hardware/D.I.Y./kitchen/bathroom/everything you can imagine store on steroids! Picture if you will, about 3 huge warehouses next to one another full of everything and anything you can think of for a house or building project and then multiply that by 10! ‘m not even kidding.

The reason I’m mentioning it here is that we bought quite a bit from them and it was pretty handy to have everything in one place. Plus they will deliver a whole truckload for something like R250!

We bought all our lights, the laminate wooden flooring, all bathroom fixtures and accessories (incl my favourite piece – the black gridded shower screen), kitchen sink and taps, all the paint, the black and white floor tiles, a bucket load of building material and more! You can even design yourself a whole kitchen while you’re there, which they will deliver to your front door. And their prices are really good!

Flip, I feel like I should work for them I’m going on so much ahhaa, but anyway I found them super handy so I thought you guys would too.

If you are also interested in where we got our beautiful original ball and claw bath (above) then please send me a message and I’ll give you the lady’s email address 🙂 She finds and restores old pieces.

Here are some before and after photos if you’re keen to see what we did 🙂

Love this!! Thanks for the tip about the one-stop shop. We’re building and desperately looking for places that sell stuff at reasonable prices.
