Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt is Tina Fey and Robert Carlock’s newest addition to the magic box A.K.A the TV. Shane introduced me to this show a few days ago and I’m totally hooked. It’s funny and smart and makes me feel a little less sad that 30 Rock no longer exists.
The main character Kimmy Schmidt is played by the awesome redhead from The Office, Ellie Kemper. The base of the story is that Kimmy and 3 other woman who are part of a doomsday cult are rescued from their underground bunker after 15 years. The whole time they were lead to believe, by their cult leader that the world had come to an end and no one had survived and so they could never ever leave. Then one day they are found and rescued and so the story begins…
Kimmy is naive and super funny and her mindset is still that of a 14-year old living in the 90’s. Her archaic references and slang is awesome because it reminds me exactly of being a 14-year old in the 90’s! Jane Krakowski who plays Jenna in 30 Rock also stars in this show, her character is similar but way more off-centre, she’s amazing. The writers must have so much fun making this show up and we’re having so much fun watching it. Shane and I are having to stop ourselves from binge watching the entire series because there’s only one season out at the moment and we have ALL the episodes.
Anyway I’m not going to tell you anymore about this show, instead I’m going to recommend that you watch it, if you like Tina Fey’s sense of humour (if you don’t then you must be dead or an idiot) and if you’re in the mood for a strange and funny story that has an cool cast made up of a few familiar faces and some new ones who are all equally charming and absurd.
If any of you get it and watch it, please let me know what you think.
