Tick tock. Where do you come for?

April 5, 2012

I bought this pair of cuckoo clocks from a junk store for R15 each. Their eyes move from side to side when they are wound up and working. Has anyone seen these guys before? The reason i’m asking is because I once saw them in quite a fancy and well-stocked antique store in Cape Town, they were in a cabinet with no price, but the owner of the place was so unfriendly and unhelpful that I didn’t have the guts or teh energy to go ask him about them.

I would love any information…anyone have any stories for me?

I HAD ONE! They are from the 70s. They came with a heart shaped gold key which has to be used to wind them up in the hole at the bottom of the clock where the 6 would be and then each tick moved the eyes from side to side. There should be a J shaped hook at the bottom of them. which also moves from side to side. Mine is a dalamation. Thery are very rarely sold still with the key! The ticking is VERY LOUD. I would make my mum wind it up at night and lie and listen to the ticking. I will try photograph my dalmation so he can say hi to those two!
