This is the photographic work of Canadian born Thomas Gardiner. I like photos like these, documentative but well thought out and considered. These photos come from a series taken in and around the USA and Western Canada.
I like taking photos just like these (maybe not as good) and I like looking at other people’s work too. This style is just up my alley, capturing a piece of someones everyday existence but in a way that makes it a moment to linger on.
– Thomas Gardiner takes us on an emotional journey to the land of his childhood. Western Canada looks beautifully strange, sometimes surreal and isolated. The locals, empty streets and damaged buildings, nature and city merging together. The use of 8×10 camera makes this amazing place look even more pictorial and out of this world. Gardiner’s personal relationship with the landscape makes these series absolutely magical.
