Things to do in New York

I can’t believe that we have been back from our New York trip for over 4 months already. Damn! I definitely haven’t blogged enough about our actual trip so I’m going to fit a few cool things that we saw and did into this post and a couple of others in all hopes that you read and enjoy it.

As we all know because we have been or been told New York is amazing. There is always a hundred things to do and see and my advice to anyone who is going for the first time would be, make sure you give yourself enough time to soak it all in! I think if you stay for too few days it may all be a bit too overwhelming, but if you have the time to just relax here and there and not feel pressured to always be out adventuring you’ll love it even more.

Here are some things that we did and I have listed the names and addresses of each place under their photos so if something takes your adventurous fancy you can find it.

The Empire State Building – 338-350 5th Ave, New York, NY 10118, USA

This may seem like an obvious suggestion, but it really is something that you must go see. The view from up here is insane! It’s like you’re looking over a concrete monster made up of beautiful old and new buildings that are filled with hundreds and thousands of people all just living their lives. I tried to imagine where I would live if I could pick any one of those buildings and how it would make me feel if I could wake up every morning to a view like the one below. I’m guessing this is the view Donald Trump wakes up to when he eventually manages to get all his ridiculous hair out of his face.

Another thing that we did whilst there is visit one of New York’s numerous pizza shops, a lot of these places have a giant slices of pizza for a $1, which is pretty damn cool and we couldn’t visit New York and not have a giant ass slice of pizza. Right? Right. We landed up going to Little Italy Pizza, I kind of got hooked on pepperoni pizza after this place I wasn’t a fan of it before but I am now.

This spot is probably on every person’s list and it’s because it really is a something you have to see at least once in your life and that is Times Square. Imagine lights, people, more lights, billboards, shops, buildings, cabs, Kendall Jenner’s face everywhere, pretzels, people dressed up like cartoon characters, more cabs and more people. This place is literally seething with activity and I don’t think it’s ever quiet or empty, I recon it just keeps going and going.

Watching all the dressed up characters taking their heads on and off so they can chat and eat was one of the highlights. I would of loved to have taken more photos of them, but if they catch you clicking then you got to pay.

Times Square was a cool experience but it wasn’t one of my favourite places we visited, it is however definitely worth a trip and a few photos.

Then there is Grand Central Station which is, you guessed it grand and central. This place is also full of people and super busy, so a short visit is all you need just so that the next time you’re watching a movie where Leonardo DiCaprio is frantically running through Grand Central Station you can look around smugly and say “I’ve been there”

We also wondered around the Moma for a while which was very cool. There are floors and floors of all sorts of art from all eras and they had a Andy Warhol exhibition on which was really interesting.

I’m going to end this post off with a photo of my cake that I had from Magnolia bakery the home of Red Velvet. I’ve heard so much about it and I own one of their recipe books so I figured that I had to at least poke my head in. We landed up having a homemade lemonade and a piece of S’mors cake, it was pretty delicious.

It’s always so strange going to a place that you’ve heard so much about, you always expect something different if you know what I mean. But it was a cool pitstop and I would definitely recommend it.
