There are so many lovely little places to stay in Cape Town, sometimes I wish my job was just to visit them all so I could just soak up what they each have to offer slash never have to cook or make my bed ever again! Ha!
Over December Shane and I were in Cape Town for a friend’s wedding and we needed a place to stay near the city centre, somewhere nice but also convenient. I’m a really picky when it comes to accommodation that isn’t my house. I’m not one to rough it, I like pretty things and places that have had a bit of thought put into them and this hotel had both.
I had heard about The Cape Milner, a sweet contemporary boutique hotel situated in the heart of Tamboerskloof. This art-deco-ish inspired hotel has everything just right in the simplest of ways, modern light rooms made up of white and splashes of colour and art, an awesome decked pool area and one of the coolest glass lounge/bars I’ve ever seen. Picture if you will an entire steel A-frame ceiling made completely out of glass, which means you get to sit under the best view of Tabel Mountain and the glorious nature that surrounds it and it didn’t hurt that they also served some pretty tasty cocktails too!
We only spent one night at The Cape Milner but I thought I’d do a post on it in case anyone was looking for a really nice place to stay at a really decent price. Plus their glass lounge is definitely a little slice of design heaven and should be enjoyed whilst sipping on a Cosmopolitan or something just as awesome!
Shane and I also had dinner at their restaurant 2 on Milner, the food was very nice but because of where the hotel is situated you’re really close to a lot of cool hubs of activities, so I’d suggest eating somewhere else instead and really enjoying the city before coming back and nightcapping under the stars on one of their blue velvet couches! Yes, that’s what we did after dinner. When last did you have a whiskey Don Pedro (so old-school but so good) whilst staring up at the stars?
If anyone has visited any other cool little spots like this one, please let me know I’d love to check them out next time I’m in town.
