The Wonders of the Universe Vol. 1 exhibition, curated by Soft Serve is up at Wolves for the rest of the month. The work is very diverse and very cool, so I thought I would do another post to show you a few more examples of what these talented artists have come up with. There are 21 posters on display and they range from R500 to R2500, but the majority are R500 – R750. There are a limited run of 5 per print, so if you see something you like I suggest you snap it up, a couple have already sold out.

Happy looking….

February 27, 2014

lara-meintjies--1

We haven’t had some art up at Wolves for the last couple of months, but we are very happy to kick off the year with some very very cool prints from a very very cool illustrator named Lara Meintjes who originates from South Africa, but now lives in California.

Her quirky watercolor paintings of half animals and half humans are not only charming, but so well done. Each one is unique and quirky and I think if you come in you’re going to have a hard time choosing which one you like best.

Amy Dover – illustration

December 10, 2013

amy-dover

Thanks Leigh face for pinning the double fox faces by Amy Dover this morning, I went to go check out the rest of her work – she’s really good. Her drawings are detailed and delicately intricate and her subject matter is right up my alley, a little dark and out of the ordinary.

-Amy Dover is a UK based and internationally recognised artist and illustrator. In her intricate, and beautifully executed graphite drawings she explores primal and human desires, complex narratives, and traditional tales. Through dark characters, melancholy tones and the anthropomorphization of animals, Dover invites the view to enter a world which challenges traditional perceptions, and nature becomes the central focus. Her influences come from growing up in a small village in the North of England, playing in the woods and reading folk tales. As well as a love of Victorian paintings, Natural History books and Nature itself.

Maria Lebedeva is currently exhibiting at Wolves. Her work is fine and delicate and all watercolours and ink. I hope my photos do them justice because you really have to see these little pieces of painted craftsmanship in real life to appreciate just how wonderful they are. Her stuff will be up until the end of the month if you are keen to come have a look…
