The Commission Project.

September 5, 2011

So there is this guy named Paul Ferney who paints pictures of a photos that are posted to him. It can be a photo of anything, your dog, your shoes, your sandwich. You just place your order and he paints it up and ships it off to you. By the sounds of it, there are limited spots available, but I don’t blame him for doing that, if he didn’t he would be painting out his wazoo till the imaginary cows come home. He calls this The Commission Project and I think it’s damn awesome.

I would love to have this nutcase picture made into a painting hee. Hey, we should start our own Commissions Project. We send each other photos and whether you can paint/draw or not, you send one back haaa! I pity the poor fool who gets me as a partner. If you would like a painting of you looking like a squat burn victim, then hold thumbs that you get me.

So much of the fun

August 2, 2011

On Saturday night I had my belated birthday party at Wolves with my friend Frank. There was dancing and friends and pizza and punch (that made you feel like you had been punched in the ‘don’t sway from side to side’ part of your mindgrapes) and polaroids and stripes, lots of stripes. Everyone had to wear them, just one thing stripy, it was such a cool ‘prop’ for photos. I think all parties should be documented on instant film – It just makes everything look rad.

Thanks friends for making our birthday party so much fun. You are all kind face lady/men.

Hello art, tell me how you’re doing.

April 11, 2011

I thought I would post some pictures of the art pieces I made for our exhibition that is still up at Wolves (and will be till the end of April). I chose 5 things in my life that mean something to me, things that are a part of my everyday and how I live and feel, like the plane represents my flipping super fear of flying and my laptop is there because I spend a hundred million hours on it a week. I have been working on these pieces for quite a while now, it was a project I started last year and pulled out every now and then when I felt like just relaxing. I’m so happy with the way they came out and my framer boxed framed them beautifully. The hairy man is Shane by the way. Obviously.

Quick, drop the fillet and fetch the eyeliner!

February 1, 2011

Last night I had a gang of 5 boys to feed. Yikes! Whenever I have to cook for lots of people, especially boys I always get nervous that I won’t make enough food (that’s the Greek coming out in me) so I bought double of everything and the biggest piece of fillet I have ever dragged home. I made my mom’s fillet mushroom pasta recipe – YUM. It seemed to have gone down a treat, which made me very happy.

My friend Dave bought over a bottle of wine that he thought I would love because it was called ‘We call this Dancing’, what he didn’t realise was that it was made by The Parlotones. Hmmm…I don’t really like the Parlotones like AT ALL, so it only seemed right that we pull out my eyeliner and take pictures of ourselves looking like dramatic fools. I will however say one thing good about it, after a glass and a half I slept like well hidden baby bear. Yes.

Here is the recipe if anyone is keen x

Hello Jerry Seinfeld, do you have any new jokes for us?

January 5, 2011

My cousins from Argentina were here to see my uncle (their dad) for the Christmas holidays. I haven’t seen them in 5 years, so when we met up now in Durban I was so shocked to see how big they have grown and so sad to think how old i’ve grown. Yikes! The youngest one, Philip who was 5 the last time I saw him is the raddest little kid ever! I nicknamed him Jerry Seinfeld cause 1- he looks like a 10 year old version of him and 2- he is the funniest little kid ever. He’s also a bit of genius, for real. I asked him if he knew who Jerry Seinfeld was, he said no and then his brother said that he doesn’t even know who Michael Jackson is – Philip proceeded to say this: “Michael Jackson, he was a singer, he was black, he had lots pf plastic surgery, he lost his nose, his best friend was Diana Ross and now he’s dead, that’s him, right?” Shane and I couldn’t stop laughing. It’s like he accessed his music folder database and came up with that. So funny.

Anyway we had a braai at my aunt’s house and afterwards we had marshmellows, which in my opinion are always nice props for a phoootoshooooooot with my Fuji Instax.

Smile. Click. The end.

*If anyone is thinking about buying this camera, do it! It’s a bit big and bulky, but it’s too much fun and you can get film for it. Hooray! A little tip though, if you can get it form overseas, it’s way way cheaper. Cool.
