Levis and Me: Shane Durrant

Levis and Me time again and today I have the pleasure of posting about my beautiful husband Shane. Hee. I’m not going to ramble on about him and make everyone want to throw tea at their computer screen, instead I’m going to let him tell you a bit about himself. Cool.

Name: Shane Durrant

Job: Barista (lol)

Questions:

1. What city do you live in, and how long have you called it home? I live in Jo’burg, city of gold (teeth). I moved here after high school about 10 years ago from a small rural dorpie called Pretoria (shout out to Die Moot).

2.What do you do? Indie Rock Singer (www.desmondandthetutus.co.za) / Flat White Maker (www.wolves.co.za) / Aspiring Rap Megastar (soundcloud.com/_real_special_guests) / Dim sum over-seer (thegoodluckclub.co.za)

3. What is one of the raddest things you have done wearing a pair of jeans? Back when we started Desmond & The Tutus, I had a very specific look in mind. It had to be t-shirt and skinny jeans (duh). But this is a good couple years ago and boys skinny jeans weren’t exactly common place. So, like many of our indie rock contemporaries, we had to make do with a pair of girls Levi’s. The fit was great but the fly was so small! One of the raddest things I have done in a pair of jeans – start a band with my buddies and play a gig to our friends (even if it was at the Blues Room in Village Walk).

4. If you could live in someone else’s ‘jeans’ for a day who would that person be? Any real jeans-connoisseur knows that a day isn’t enough, you need a fortnight at the very least to wear them in properly.

5. What is the one thing/person that influences your style the most? My darling wife Angie is certainly a beacon of light in the otherwise dark, hopeless hole that is my fashion sense.

6. Would you rather have white doves flying out from under your armpits every 17 minutes of every day or foul mouthed bears as legs? Definitely armpit doves. I’d hustle the bar circuit making bets with the locals. So when do I get my doves? Should I invoice you? Or will Levis send them to me directly? Let me know if I should collect or whatever, I’m easy.

Levis and Me: Roger Sivuyile Lupuwana

Ok so we are 1 day late with the next instalment in our Levis and Me project, Andrew was on a plane but he’s back now and here is my next face – Roger Sivuyile Lupuwana. Roger is young and sweet and one of the nicest people I know. He is currently studying to become a creative TV/movie show maker he is also a waiter at The Good Luck Club in-between studying, so if you find him bringing you a twice fried beef you can give him a hello and a high-5.

Name: Roger Sivuyile Lupuwana

Questions:

1. What city do you live in, and how long have you called it home? I was born in East London and now I live in Johannesburg, Ive called it home for about 7 years now.

2.What do you do? Im in my 3rd year of studying film at the University of Johannesburg, I also DJ with my best friend, Im currently working on a film called Carewood and I occasionally trash talk South African ‘celebrities’ on a show called 10 Over 10 on Vuzu… and I grow a moustache.

3. What is one of the raddest things you have done wearing a pair of jeans? Jump off a waterfall into a river at Hogsback in the Eastern Cape.

4. If you could live in someone else’s ‘jeans’ for a day who would that person be? Probably Pharrel Williams or Lady Gaga.

5. What is the one thing/person that influences your style the most? The streets, urban Johannesburg, Dexy’s Midnight Runners, music, indie culture if thats real. A bunch of stuff.

6. Would you rather the bottom half of your body constantly be river dancing or the top of half of your body forever be in mid-macarena? Oh. Definately the top half doing the Macarena (duh!)

Levis and Me: Adi Koen

Today our Levis and Me project I would like to introduce you all to Adi, a family member (RumdayIllovo) of mine and a super sweet lass. She is a talented art director and wardrobe stylist and she is yet another one that shares my passion for Ryan Gosling. I think if this man ever had to pop up on the streets of Illovo he would have some serious trouble coming his way. Shame.

We asked Adi a few questions so you could get to know her a bit better and we dressed her up in this super cool white denim Levis jacket for the shoot. I love this piece, it’s amazing!

Job: Art director and wardrobe stylist

Questions:

1. What city do you live in, and how long have you called it home? I live in Johannesburg and I’ve called it home for 25 years.

2.What do you do? I’m a freelance Art director and wardrobe stylist.

 3. What is one of the raddest things you have done wearing a pair of jeans? I was shooting a commercial in Limpopo and had to a herd cattle across a riverbed before the sunset. It was wild!

4. If you could live in someone else’s ‘jeans’ for a day who would that person be? Can I live in Ryan Goslings jeans with him for a day? is that an option? would be the best flippen day EVER!

5. What is the one thing/person that influences your style the most? I’m a pretty practical girl who is always on the run and doing weird but wonderful things so this influences what I wear a lot. I don’t want clothes to restrict me in any way so i’m all about comfortable and simple clothes! But boy, oh boy do I like me some pretty vintage pieces.

6. Would you rather your skin be made of crispy bacon or sweet sweet pink Enterprise polony.? Crispy crispy bacon wrapped in more crispy bacon please.

Levis and Me: Masego Maps Maponyane

Wednesday Wednesday, hello Wednesday. It’s time for another Levis and Me session and today I have the privilege of introducing you guys to literally one of the best looking men in South Africa, Masego Maps Maponyane. He just recently won Cosmos Most Sexiest Man 2013 competition and is involved in all sorts of cool things for the future and to top it off he’s a super nice person too. Some people have everything! Sigh.

Job: TV Presenter, Actor, Writer, Model, Voice Over Artist, Creative Consultant, Entrepreneur.

Questions:

1. What city do you live in, and how long have you called it home? I currently live in Cape Town. I’ve been here for 4 months and not sure whether I can call it home just yet.

2.What do you do? I work in media and entertainment. I pretty much sell my body, mind, and oratory skills to make other people and brands look good.

3. What is one of the raddest things you have done wearing a pair of jeans? One of the raddest things I’ve done in a pair of jeans is have paint thrown at me.

4. If you could live in someone else’s ‘jeans’ for a day who would that person be? Kanye West’s I think. They would be very well made, would have been through some cool/interesting experiences, would more than likely take me to some really rad places, would encourage more creativity in me, and I would just feel GOOD in them even though they would most probably love themselves more than they would me. Either way just the right fit.

5. What is the one thing/person that influences your style the most? Architecture and the Everyman.

6. Would you rather have Barry Ronger growing out your back or Oprah as your right leg? Barry Ronge is nice and all that but who would say no to a multi-billion dollar right leg?

Levis and Me: Lenny-Dee Doucha

So it’s Wednesday again and today I’m happy to introduce you to a lovely young lass named Lenny. She is the 4th face we are introducing into our Levis and Me Project and she is super cute and knows just how I feel about Ryan Gosling hehe. And so without further adue, everyone say hi to Lenny (love her name).
