Levi’s® 501®

May 7, 2013

Levis is running a cool campaign called “501® Interpretation” that can involve you guys, if you feel like the taking up the challenge. They are celebrating their Levi’s® 501 range and they are asking fans to join the movement by tagging photos of themselves in their 501® jeans with #501 on Twitter and Instagram or by uploading directly at www.LEVIS501.com. From this collection, they’ll hand select the photos that best represent the energy and events of these times to live in a limited-edition “Book of 501®” as a legacy for the future. I don’t know about you guys, but being in a limited edition book is a pretty cool thing.

Check out some of the awesome photos they took for the campaign (2 below) as well some of the entrants so far. If you are thinking about entering then high-5, I think this book could do with some South African faces.

– The evolution of today’s 501® jean has been driven by a commitment to craftsmanship and quality. There isn’t a stitch on the jean that hasn’t been reconstructed and improved to enhance this timeless product, while staying true to its essential core. Look for finer fabric, reinforced stitching, larger pockets to store your latest smart phone, and updated belt loops, inseams and cuffs. We’ve done it all in the spirit of the original, with the same care, the same craftsmanship, and the same attention to every detail. It’s the same Levi’s® 501® as always, like never before.

This season, the 501® jean will be available in the same great fit in new colors including mineral red, chalk blue and ivy green. A lighter weight twill fabric offers an incredible, buttery-soft hand feel.

Questions:

1. What city do you live in, and how long have you called it home? Johannesburg. Based on average life expectancy of 72 years, about half a lifetime so far.

2.What do you do? I find ideas and then try to find the best people to make them with.

3. What is one of the raddest things you have done wearing a pair of jeans? Raving.

4. If you could live in someone else’s ‘jeans’ for a day who would that person be? I would love to get into Kate Moss’s jeans. She’s my hall pass.

5. What is the one thing/person that influences your style the most? The media – unfortunate, but it’s a reality. Oh, and Woody Allen.

6. Would you rather have a talking tourettes plagued forehead or a girl version of your own face on your lower back? Good luck deciding. I already have both…except the forehead is closer to my chin and I call it my mouth. And the girl version of me is bald and only has one eye.

Grapetizer pants.

June 25, 2012

One thing I HATE doing because it’s just such a mission is jeans shopping. I find it so flipping frustrating, either my legs are too short (this is the case most of the time), or  i’m an in between size, so they don’t fit me just right. Or they are tight over my knees and thighs, which irritates me and makes me feel like I have boiled cocktail sausages for legs. But when I do find jeans that I like, I normally just buy 2 pairs of the same kind, that way I’m sorted for a while – I pretty much live in jeans.

Lately I have been looking for a nice pair of skinny maroon/grapetizer (that’s what they remind me of) jeans and this weekend I finally found them. So if any of you are looking for skinny ankle bitters in nice colours, then look no further than Jay Jays (of all places). They have navy, black, maroon and tan. I battled a bit to find my size in all the colours, I would of liked a tan pair, but I did come home with the ones I wanted, so I’m happy and my shopping trip didn’t end in me coming home and eating every piece of chocolate in the house whilst having an imaginary conversation with my legs about why they are so short. Hooray.
