udon-noodles-14

We went to such cool restaurants in Japan, like this unassuming udon noodle place which was shown to us by a friend the boys had made over there. Chihiro said it was one of her most favourite restaurants to eat in and I totally understand why. At this place they make the udon noodles from scratch and they have a tempura selection that will have you hyperventilating from excitement. How it worked was, you ordered the basic dish at the front of the shop with the guy below, so it’s udon with broth and pork or beef or egg etc etc and then you head off to the tempura section and load your plate up with all sorts of wonderful things, squid, chicken, aloe root, potato, prawns, deep fried eggs, baby marrow (I’m mentioning like a 3rd of the selection). You then go find a place to sit and you sip on a beer or a coke while you slurp (slurping was big in this place) down probably the best bowl of udon noodles ever. We went back to this place 3 times, that’s how good it was.

This restaurant was also in Shinjuku, if you ever want to go I could always ask Chihiro for directions xx

Yes I’m back from amazing Japan, I have been there for the last 12 days so I’m super sorry for the lack of posts around these parts. But I’m back now and ready to show you guys some of the amazing places I went to.

I’m not sure how many of you have been there before, if you have gone then you will now what I mean when I say that Tokyo is truly one of the best cities I have ever visited and Japanese people are one of a kind in terms of how friendly and accommodating they are. I couldn’t believe how no matter what time of the day you went into a shop or restaurant (and things stay open late), everyone was always friendly and attentive. The city is clean and no matter who does what it always looks like they take their jobs and positions very seriously and complete them with the utmost pride.

Gina King is now a Anderson

February 8, 2012

I have been in the Cape for the last few days, getting ready for and attending my best friend Gina King’s wedding in Stellenbosch, she got hitched there on a beautiful farm. The wedding was very very pretty and super fun and she looked amazing. I was one of her bridesmaids, Amy (you remember talented Amy?) made my bridesmaids dress for me and she did a damn good job. Thank you Gina King and Beardface for the lovely wedding and for the dancing into the dark night and thank you Amy for the dress and Luke and Jen (Shane’s cousins) for the lodgings and chats till 12:55 in the morning and thank you CT for the good times.

If you haven’t bought tickets yet, I have 1 double set of tickets to giveaway, all you have to do is leave me a comment saying ‘hi. This is quick one, I will literally be drawing a winner tonight, so just drop me a comment and the 2 tickets could be yours. Easy peasy.

I got to see some really cool stuff last year, so i’m really looking forward to this one. Here are a few pictures I took last time round.

Howdy Cape Town. Thanks for having us. Your mountains are pretty and so are your streets, but damn your weather maker needs a talking to!

November 23, 2010

My friends Karenistic and Marina came with me to see and stay with our good friend Gina King in Cape Town this weekend that has just passed. We spent 4 glorious days with her pretty much eating as much bread as we could all possible fit into our faces. For some or other reason we were eating a lot of awesome delicious bread, bread between meals, before meals, after meals, it was like we were stocking up in case we got locked in a small cupboard or something – like there was any chance of that happening. But anyway it was so nice to be out and about with the girls. We went to so many cool places, saw so many friends, it was so awesome.

FRIENDS: I love you guys.

PLACES: Finally got to go to Field Office – nice sandwiches Willface. Lots of antique shops that were dotted all over the place. Church in town, have any of you been there? Wow what a special little place with special little things. We went to the new Blue Bird Garage market, that was sweet, it’s still pretty small, but it’ll get there. Michelle’s awesome exhibition, Kalk Bay, Vamp (obviously), Biscuit mill, Bird Cafe, lots of cool little shops and restaurants. Cape Town you have so many nice places to visit.

FOOD: Geeeeeeeeeeeeeeez we ate a crap load, I even got to eat boiled eggs and soldiers, haven’t had that masterpiece since I was a teen. When I came home all I could think about was getting into my stretchy pants and eating more lovely lovely bread. Last night I was even considering fashioning a loaf out of my bath soap I was craving it so much.

THINGS I WANTED, BUT MY CREDIT CARD SAID NO WAYS FAT FACE!

Oh man the ceramic teacup with the bird on the side made by Frauke Stegmann is my most favourite piece that I left behind. Balls. But I have these 2 teacups already, which I bought a while back, so don’t feel too sorry for me ha!
