Found this very cool stencil outside a shop in Durban. Such a nice way to make a manhole a prettyhole. Yes.
A week ago I bravely flew to Durban for the day to meet a new team that I’m going to be doing some blogging work for. I have been liaising with a lovely young lady named Amber and I was amped to finally get to meet her in real life. They flew myself and 2 other bloggers (Kate and Michelle) to their vey cool offices to meet the team and to show us what we’re going to be up to. They had baked us a strawberry cake and mini quiches and had all sorts of other goodies for us to pigface out on. The pink cake by the way, was like eating a cloud dipped in rainbow tears.
As soon as the site has launched I will tell you a bit more about it, I think its’ going to be very cool and I’m very excited to get involved.
My new friend Amber, also gets to design a few things for Mr P and I think she is really talented. The other day I bought a pair of shoes she made for them – look at my fancy new floral vellies, perfect for Winter times.
I stumbled upon this site the other day and then my friend sent it to me so I thought I would share it with you guys because it’s such a cool idea. Irina Werning is a photographer from Buenos Aires. She’s started a photographic project whereby she gets people to fish out old pictures of themselves when they were young and then gets them to reenact the exact moment again now. So, as she puts it – together with her camera, she’s inviting people to go back to their future.
The results are so super cool, her grading is spot on and I can’t believe how much effort some people have gone to, some of them even look like they are wearing the exact exact same outfit! How?! (check out the black and white one)
Maybe we should attempt one of these. Hmmm….ok this is the only photo I could find of myself on my computer. All I need now is a rosette, some white shorts, a white t-shirt, some nice white ‘open all over’ sandals, crazy hair and those 3 kids standing next to me. I mean how hard can that be to arrange?!
Ok, I think I may look for another picture.
I should get my parents to reenact this one. That’s them on their honeymoon in 1975. So rad!
Stubs and I decided that this roadtrip needed a dance video. So we shot a dance video. And here it is. 1…2…3….4…dance!
Hello JHB, DBN says howzit.
September 7, 2010Ooohwee Stubs and I have just come back from Durban. We spent 4 lovely days there and I must say I underestimated old Durbs, it’s a pretty pretty cool place, except for the mini afro that always seems to appear above my side parting. Humidity is an ugly ugly thing, like an empty Marmite jar when it’s all you feel like!
We went to the I Heart Market on Saturday where we met lots of cool people, like Nadia from Cupcake Couture and Casey from Sibling Mine, Danka from Black Butterfly, Genevieve from Fierce, Sara from Lucky Handmade, Sohpia from Sophia Basckin Design and a few other very talented faces. We spent some nice monies on some nice goodies. Man I got loads of amazings, which i’m not going to post up all at once, i’m going to spread them so that I don’t break the internet.
I’m going to start with my beautiful apple green rosette that Nadia gave me as a present. How sweet is the little deer? I’ve named him Norm and he’s sitting on my skirt right now. Nadia thank you so much for helping us out at the market and for hanging out and for showing us around and most of all for Norm. I will love his plastic behind forever. I also got sweet little doves for my hair, I like them a lot.
Then I bought these super cute hand made ceramic heart brooches from Carla who runs Token. She had such cute stuff, birds, rabbits, ducks, hearts and lots more. I love how they look like like lace that will never get dirty or smell like a little granny…
After the market, Stubs and I went to Casey’s cute little flat for tea, cake and some chit-chats. What a cool girl, she’s a doctor and and all round nice person and she sure knows how to mix a mean-ass strawberry champagne cocktail. We got to hang out with some of the girls from the market, which was so nice. Casey if I ever needed someone to cut me open to get a empty Marmite jar out cause I ate it in a fit of uncontrollable range, I would want that person to be you (insert smiley emoticon here).
