DIY Guest room and study

Now that we have a little one on her way, Shane and I needed to transform our study into the babies room and our spare room into the study, but we still wanted to have the option of using the study as a guest bedroom. So I went looking for some reference on how we could do exactly that in a compact and clever way.

My very clever husband then had a look at all the reference I gave him, adapted one of the ideas and then drew up the plans for our DIY Guest room/study. He then set out to build it by himself, which I was a bit apprehensive about, but now that it’s complete and flipping awesome, I will never ever question his ability to wield a hammer and saw again.

Things you can make and eat on Valentines Day

Valentines Day is just around the corner and I thought I would share some cool recipes with you guys that you can make for your loved one, slash yourself (secretly). I think homemade stuff for things like Valentine’s Day are the best and who would be sad to get any of things below? No one. Impossible, unless your’re bat-sh*t crazy.

I saw a bunch of cool pink and heart shaped delicious looking things floating around, so here they are in all there googey loveliness. Enjoy and if you try making any of them, good luck and happy face stuffing.

Wooden floor of love

Shane and I wanted to add something to the new house that was super personal and that we would never change (unlike furniture, decor etc). So when we had our wooden floors redone we took one of the parquet pieces and got the printer downstairs to laser cut our names into it before it was sanded and sealed.

Turned out so well and we’ve placed it right by the one balcony door so we can see it everyday. I love my Shane.

Shiny party.

I love it when people make an effort to brighten up a place for a party. This year I want glitter and confetti and the balloons and pom poms at my birthday. Stuff like this automatically makes me as happy as a pig in mud flavoured pudding.

I WANT this Pom Pom Installation, which I don’t think will be that hard to replicate.

Cool working space

Nick and I needed a big desk for the Instant Grass office we are designing that could accommodate up to 12 people, so we had one made. We sat down and spoke to our friend Chris and this is what we landed up with. It reminds me of a huge grey ping pong table and I love it.

The actual piece is over 5 meters long and it still has 2 flaps that are going to be added to either end that will extended the table and make it even bigger if need be. Cool hey?

To go with the 2 gift idea posts I did last week, I thought I would compile one just on gift wrapping. I’ve been seeing some very sweet and easy ways to spruce up your pressies this Christmas which I thought I would share with you guys.

These are all D.I.Y gift wrapping ideas, some are easier than others to make, depending on if you have 2 left hands or not (ok so that doesn’t have the same impact as the foot analogy, but you know what I’m getting at). So have a look and see what you think… My 2 favourites are the confetti wrapping and the pompoms – they’re just so much fun!
