Nadinoo

September 17, 2013

Nadinoo is one of my most favourite clothing designers that I have had the pleasure of laying my internet eyes on. Nadia Izruna, the genius hands behind this label always seems to come up with the prettiest of dresses and pieces using such awesome patterned material that you would expect to find in a long lost warehouse from the 60’s.

I absolutely love her stuff, every outfit makes me feel like I’m looking at a beautiful piece of a memory.

Levi’s® 501®

May 7, 2013

Levis is running a cool campaign called “501® Interpretation” that can involve you guys, if you feel like the taking up the challenge. They are celebrating their Levi’s® 501 range and they are asking fans to join the movement by tagging photos of themselves in their 501® jeans with #501 on Twitter and Instagram or by uploading directly at www.LEVIS501.com. From this collection, they’ll hand select the photos that best represent the energy and events of these times to live in a limited-edition “Book of 501®” as a legacy for the future. I don’t know about you guys, but being in a limited edition book is a pretty cool thing.

Check out some of the awesome photos they took for the campaign (2 below) as well some of the entrants so far. If you are thinking about entering then high-5, I think this book could do with some South African faces.

– The evolution of today’s 501® jean has been driven by a commitment to craftsmanship and quality. There isn’t a stitch on the jean that hasn’t been reconstructed and improved to enhance this timeless product, while staying true to its essential core. Look for finer fabric, reinforced stitching, larger pockets to store your latest smart phone, and updated belt loops, inseams and cuffs. We’ve done it all in the spirit of the original, with the same care, the same craftsmanship, and the same attention to every detail. It’s the same Levi’s® 501® as always, like never before.

This season, the 501® jean will be available in the same great fit in new colors including mineral red, chalk blue and ivy green. A lighter weight twill fabric offers an incredible, buttery-soft hand feel.

Name: Brad Reilly

Job: Creative Partner at & Anonymous

Questions:

1. What city do you live in, and how long have you called it home? Johannesburg. Based on average life expectancy of 72 years, about half a lifetime so far.

2.What do you do? I find ideas and then try to find the best people to make them with.

3. What is one of the raddest things you have done wearing a pair of jeans? Raving.

4. If you could live in someone else’s ‘jeans’ for a day who would that person be? I would love to get into Kate Moss’s jeans. She’s my hall pass.

5. What is the one thing/person that influences your style the most? The media – unfortunate, but it’s a reality. Oh, and Woody Allen.

6. Would you rather have a talking tourettes plagued forehead or a girl version of your own face on your lower back? Good luck deciding. I already have both…except the forehead is closer to my chin and I call it my mouth. And the girl version of me is bald and only has one eye.

Lazy Oaf

March 13, 2013

lazy-oaf-13

I have only just discovered this super quirky clothing label called Lazy Oaf. Their bright and large simple patterns make me think of kid’s clothing in the 80’s, but in a good way. I really like their approach to fashion, it’s like they’re having fun designing their clothes and not taking it too seriously.

-Lazy Oaf is famous for it’s bright pop graphic T-shirts, reversible sweats and accessories collections. The company is driven by illustration, graphics, drawing, and fuelled by tea, hamburgers and Brian Blessed’s knarley foot. The Oaf’s have often contributed to print projects, exhibitions and events.

This East London based creative label was started by Gemma Shiel back in 2001 with hand screen printed tee’s and a market stall in East London, skip to the present and lazy Oaf is available in over 150 stockists worldwide.

2004 saw the opening of the lazy oaf store in Soho which houses all of the collections and further Oaf oddities sourced from Japan and the US.
