This weekend I pulled out Cake Days and flipped through till I found something I wanted to bake. Lately I feel like I haven’t had much time to bake anything, so on Friday I decided to change that. I’m hoping that next week I will be able to bake something new every day, set myself a bit of a baking challenge. It should be fun, I better make sure my stretchy pants are washed and ready.
So the latest trend seems to be baking cakes in jars and I like it. I like cake, I like icing, I like jars, so how can this idea be bad? Well, it’s not in my fat book. It’s amazing. I’ve attempted chocolate pudding in a jar before, they came out really nicely and now I’m keen to try one of these bad boys.
I have attached the recipe for the second one because it involves marshmallows, which means you’re already 3/4 of your way to Success Land. Good luck, mail me if you attempt any of these baked amazings.
Corné and Linda just mailed me this picture of the rainbow cake that they made. Turned out brilliantly, i’m so glad you guys are letting me know when you try stuff, makes me happy x (thanks Matthew for the picture)
Love the flags! It’s my birthday soon, anyone want to bake me one?
And yet another one made by my friend Nicki‘s sister x
Hey sweet tooth, open wide here come the marshmallow cake
January 7, 2011This is my first attempt at a chocolate, vanilla almond sponge with marshmallow icing. I tried this recipe out yesterday and it came out really nicely. I have made seven minute frosting before, it isn’t too difficult to pull off in case you were wondering. This cake however does take quite a while to bake because it’s 2 different recipes, but you end up with a nice stripy sponge that will have your sweet tooth doing the Macarana.
This afternoon Shane’s parents and granny came to visit, so I thought I would bake them a cake to go with their tea. This is what I came out of the kitchen carrying. I was so bummed. Luckily it was delicious, even though it looked like it was made by a blind construction worker with a stump for a right arm and a monkey for the left. cake. Why did you have to stick to the tin? Why? When I perfect the making of this orange flavoured sponge cake, I’m going to give you the recipe, because it really is flippin awesome to eat. Ok bye bye.
