Claire

March 4, 2011

These beautiful photographs were taken by a beautiful girl called Claire that I met a long time ago. My friends David and Adrian bought them for me for my birthday a few years back and I have just rediscovered them now. They are so well thought out and shot, I can’t say which is my favourite because I like them all so much, they make me feel so happy and young, don’t ask me why.

Don’t you think this such a cool project?

Neckie neckie checkie checkie

September 13, 2010

Lookie lookie what I found for my neckie neckie.

1. This rad little gold and black neck purse from Durban. Its so gold and shiny and small, I like that I can just pop my monies into it and off I go. It reminds me of the little leather purses I would buy on the Durban beachfront EVERY TIME I went there on holiday. You know the ones with the little footprints stamped on the front… loved those. I so should of gone looking for one, I wonder if they still sell them…

2. We went into an awesome antique store in Howick called All Most Antiques. It was so full of amazing amazing things. I almost wanted to pee myself, but I didn’t, I held on and I looked through as much of it as I could. A lot of it was quite expensive, so I didn’t ‘t leave with too much, but I did bring home this beautiful gold Swedish looking cowbell for around my neck, it was definitely something I wasn’t going to leave behind. It’s so small and pretty, now I just need a nice length gold chain for it… I got these 2 little ornaments too. There was so much I could of bought if I was made of money, or just had lots of money in my purse. Man, being made of money must suck when it rains!

Hello Whimsies

August 19, 2010

Look at my little Wade squirrel that I bought online the other day. He’s in his original box and everything, the only other Wade animals I have are wolves and a bambi, these are quite common in antique stores and I have only just recently discovered that there are a lot of different ones out there. I sense a new obsession forming. Oh crap, my poor display cabinet.

I found one!

August 2, 2010

On Saturday, Doug, Cath, Shane and I went to the Irene Market in Pretoria. For those of you who don’t know what that is, it’s a market that takes place on the second and last Saturday of every month and is held on the grounds of the Smuts House Museum. There are loads (over 300) of stalls selling arty crafty things that aren’t really my taste, but there is also an antique section, which is pretty awesome. We arrived and I headed straight for that area armed with a brown bag of biltong. In the first 10 minutes I found what I have been looking for for about 2 years now, the Bambi pictured below. My friend Frank was given the exact same one for his birthday and ever since I have been trying to figure out how to prior it out his Franky hands, but now I no longer have to and I only paid R200 for her. I know this may not seem exciting to most of you, but i’m flipping amped!

I also bought these 2 pretty antique plates. They weren’t badly priced, the Wedgwood only cost me R50.

If you are thinking about going to this market and I do think it is worth it, the antique section is awesome and the deli section is great too, we had roasted pecan nuts coated in cinnamon and sugar, just that should be a good enough reason to trek over – I want to give you one piece of advice, try get there early. We sat in an hour and 40 minutes worth of traffic getting into the market and it was not fun. And wear shoes that you don’t mind getting dirty, cause it’s quite dusty out there (thanks winter). Have fun  x
