I don’t know how many of you will relate to this post, lets see…. these are my paper swaps from when I was in primary school. Look at how I wrote my name on the envelope ahha, it’s like I had 2 left arms, both in casts. Anyway I was going through them today and it made me feel so nostalgic. I remember how much these pieces of paper meant to me, they made me so happy and kept me so entertained, don’t ask me how. I remember that the Garfield and Ninja Turtle ones were some of my favourites, but looking through them now i’ve changed my mind – I like the 2 below the most. I mean nothing says I love you like an off yellow piece of paper with a heart that shows 2 weird looking 30 somethings have a semi-nice time in the sun, right? Right.
Then there’s Farrah Fawcett in her more than awesome red one piece. Yiss, now this one would make anyone feel like they are the most special person in the whole world to you and there are such nice strong lines to follow, so your undying love can be neat and tidy.
I wonder if kids still collect such things…doubt it. If it doesn’t take batteries or plug into the wall then it’s lame. Sad. I will tell you what’s not sad, this collection (ok, maybe it’s a little sad hee).

Ammmmmazing!!! I lost all my sticker albums and paper swap stuff…hell that stuff was like gold at the time. In a freak accident the roof of my roof collapsed and everything got wet! I was eleven and losing that stuff was gutting. So awesome that you still have yours!
great post little lovely!
xx
Swaps, man oh man they were awesome. SO much joy came from those things. My sister had THE MOST awesome collection. I really like your Dallas swaps friend, I have never seen those.
I also got into sticker collecting at one point. I had so many cool ones and then my sticker books were stolen at school. I cried and cried!
So glad someone else likes to collect things and keeps things from their childhood. I’m a hoarder of note!
Verushka – Oh no friend! That is the worst story. I would of cried till the imaginary cows came home.
Still have my sticker books! I must haul those out for a photo shoot too.
Hope you are well!

Lea – I would motherflipping gone mental on the kid that stole my sticker book! So sad.
you 2 have such horrible stories – If you want, you can both come round for tea and we can have a swap and sticker book party 🙂
dude!!!! they were my absolute best, i passed mine on to my younger sister. (yes, i regret it every day) What about stickers, fluffies, furries, plainies, shinies..ah man those were the days!
oh wow. this takes me right back. i was so obessed with these things! thanks for the nostaligia trip! i wish i knew what happened to mine… 🙁
What memories! I loved my papers and stickers and marbles. Still got all of them somewhere. as that other person commented my older sister had the best though.
those were the days!
i remember spending all my pocket monies on buying lovely writing pads with the matching envelopes. swapping during break at school or on the bus home. i was so anal i kept my collection in a plastic flip file. good times 🙂
Good lord!!!!!!! I had almost ALL of those. The ninja turtle ones and the banana, grape and lion ones were my best. Man. You have to frame those and put them somewhere. Or auction them or something, like at wolves, for charity. Really!
Yes I am shamelessly trying to get you to give them up so that I can have one.
Lol I have the same Pink Panther and Garfield set, they were hand-me-downs from my older sister. I used to love collecting them but I don’t think I ever used any of it. I still have my sticker collection somewhere. I did give my Barbies away, I don’t think they should be sitting in a box when someone kid could be playing with them. But I’m never parting with my Lego!
WHOA, those are super cool! My mom collected stickers when she was younger and has a whole big book just FULL of the coolest stickers in the world. I collect State Quarters, and also Curious Things. No really, I have a Jar For Curious Things. 🙂

No way – you kept them…oh how this takes me back!
I had some of the EXACT same ones in my collection…and I grew up in Barrydale of all places.
Garfield, pink panther, snoopy, hello kitty and that banana-jungle-lion ones.
Good old “swops” I still have all of mine too. In fact I have the same Garfield, pink panther and snoopy ones you have 🙂 Thanks for the post, you have encouraged me to dig mine out and have a good old reminisce 🙂
i love this. i’m gonna see if i can find mine and do a post. awesome. im pretty sure my collection doesn’t come close though….xxx
the dallas ones are my favourite….i dont think i have ever seen those before.
Oh how funny! We were just chatting this weekend, about our sticker and paper collections. Such fab memories. Thanks for posting, really enjoyed looking at them again.
I also collected those and it’s still at my parents’ house! Someone sent me a hello kitty set from america in primary school and it was the best! I also collected stickers and marbles and some other weird things like pretty serviettes and empty deoderant bottles..yes really
OMG i still ahve all of mine too!!!
haha, great collection!
This is excellent. I used to do this too and still have them all. My favourite one was a Snoopy set my friend brought home from Mauritius.
When I read your post now I think my heart nearly leapt out of my chest- I was trying to explain to my cousin recently about paper swaps but couldn’t remember what we used to call it and anyway she is a few years younger than me and quite frankly was a bit judgmental- her look said: how could a few measly papers keep you busy/utterly happy for so long. I refused to be apologetic though- I was loyal to my paper swaps memory and now your post!! And what I loved most about seeing your swaps is realising that when I was 7 my absolute favourites were a similar Snoopy set and the same Pink Panther set you have and now I love the kitsch 80’s people and Daisy Lane sets. Our beginnings never know our ends.
LOL!!! so funny, I still have my sticker album and writing papers! I swear I have that exact same garfield, snoopy and pink panther paper! Can’t bear to throw them out, nostalgia!!
The kids at my school collect soccer cards and bobble head dolls.
AND would you believe it, they have sticker books too?!
There’s hope for the future.
P.S. I’m going to find a way to steal your Hello Kitty up there.
