In August Shane and I went to Cape Town for a friend’s wedding and we got to stay in not one awesome hotel, but two. We stayed at The Alphen Boutique Hotel and we go to spend a night at the Steenberg Farm which interestingly enough is The Cape’s first farm, established in 1682.
Sreenberg Hotel has everything from luxury rooms to heritage suites to family rooms and every one is really really nice, in fact some of them even come with their own private pools and gardens, but one thing they all have in common is charm and a sense of history, not to mention amazing views of the surrounding mountains and landscapes, which includes their very own vineyard and golf course.
We took a walk through the grounds and everything is so well looked after and maintained and the style in which the farm is built in is so beautiful, the original Manor House was my absolute favourite part.
We had such a pleasant stay here, the establishment, accommodation, food and staff were all 5-star. We also got to eat at their restaurant Catharina’s Restaurant which is actually named after the woman who started it all. I want an entire farm named after me The Angie Pants Batis Durrant Farm Of Awesome. Sounds good right? We had lunch and breakfast there and both meals were delicious, especially breakfast. You can also visit their Wine Tasting Bar and Lounge as well as have lunch in their other restaurant Bistro Sixteen82
We only stayed for a day but we got enough done, Shane had a round at the golfing range and then we went for a bike ride (they provide the bikes) around the vineyards, which was fun when we were on a downhill, not so fun going uphill in fact I pushed my bike up most of the way, yip my little stumpy legs just couldn’t handle it.
If you are looking for a beautiful place to get away from it all, which by the way is only 20 minutes away from Cape Town I highly recommend Steenberg Farm.
