The other night Shane an I sat down to watch the new Bill Murray movie called St. Vincent which was written and directed by Theodore Melfi (his first feature-length film). I’m a huuuge Bill Murray fan, so I was very excited to watch it, plus I didn’t know anything about the film, which to me is the best way to go into things, so I’m not going to break it down in anyway.
All I’m going to say is the script is uncomplicated, endearing and well written and the cast is so amazing. Not only is Bill Murray in it, but so is Melissa McCarthy, Naomi Watts, Chris O’Dowd and newcomer Jaeden Lieberher, this little guy is so sweet in this, if he was in front of me now I’d probably squeeze the bejeezers out of him. All the characters are played so well, but Bill Murray is a genius, he’s like a 2014 version of Mr Wilson from Dennis The Menace. Naomi Watts, who is another one of my favourites, plays a Russian prostitute and that is probably my only criticism I have of the film, I didn’t like her Russian accent, I felt like it was too clichéd, but other than that, we really really enjoyed St. Vincent, it pulled at all the right heartstrings and funny cords and I felt like I didn’t want it to end and to me that is the best sign of a good movie.
So here’s the trailer and some screenshots, just incase you do want to see a bit more about it. Enjoy.
