Shane and I found this little cemetery along out travels in a place called Inhambane. It’s one of the oldest and prettiest towns in Mozambique and probably one of the most interesting places i’ve ever visited (I’ll be posting some pictures of the houses in the area at a later stage. I would kill to own one).
All the tombstones in the cemetery were so beautiful, the way they had broken down and deteriorated over the years. we spent about an hour just walking around looking at stuff. It seriously looked like a cemetery that one would see in a Wim Wenders film – so beautiful and perfect, but so sad and almost forgotten about. on a lot of the graves were plastic flowers and some had old soda-pop bottles that were used as vases, others had bottles of perfume placed on top of them.
I hope these pictures give you some indication of how magical it really was, unfortunately though it was so much better in real life. x
