Last night I went to the Sanlam Handmade Contemporary Fair 2016 which happens every year on the rooftop of the Hyde Park Shopping Centre. Once again it was packed full of beautiful things to buy and delicious things to eat and buy and eat we did. We had an awesome time, but by the end of it I was finished, I had a bag full of goodies which included TWO boxes of 1701 Nougat (best nougat on the planet) that I couldn’t wait to get home to eat.
The Fair is happening over this weekend and I would definitely say it’s worth going to, especially if you’re one of those people, like me, who like to buy Christmas presents early or you just like buying nice things in general. You’ll find jewellery, clothes, baby accessories, chocolate, shoes, hats, furniture, wooden bowties and the list goes on.
The food section is packed full of awesome things to dive into or nibble on and there is a nice selection of wines and gins if that’s what you fancy. The only thing I will say is if you can catch an Uber there because the parking situation can be pretty intense. I drove around for over 15 minutes trying to find a parking, it was quite frustrating.
Other than that you won’t be disappointed, your wallet will be lighter and your stomach and wardrobe fuller, but to me, that sounds like the right combination.
Look out for some of my favourites like Jane Sews, Dear Rae, Ilundi, Lula & Marula, Father, 1701 Nougat, Mungo, Simon and Mary, Mevrou & Co, Trebene, Zana and The Counter.
