Rosto Sunday lunch

December 1, 2017

If you’re a fan of a good old fashion Sunday pork roast then may I suggest that you pay Rosto in Linden a visit this coming weekend. Not only do they serve some pretty delicious free-range chicken, spit-roasted in front of a wood-burning fire, but they also serve amazing crispy porchetta that is only available every Thursday and Sunday.

I’m such a sucker for a good pork roast and pork crackling is one of my favourite indulgences so when we arrived to have lunch a few Sundays ago I didn’t even bother looking at the rest of the menu, I knew what I was there for and I’m happy to report that I wasn’t disappointed!

The options under this particular section are limited, in fact, you can only choose from one of two dishes, Sliced Porchetta with Apple and Marsala Reduction which is served with either a Sweet Potato and Roast Apple Mash, Chips or a Salad. You can also add a couple of veggie sides to this dish and extra crackling (I’m not sure who wouldn’t opt for this). Or you can have a Flying Pig Focaccia, which is Porchetta on a lightly toasted Sea Salt Focaccia with Salad, Apple Balsamic Mayonaisse, and Twice Fried Chips.

We ordered both options and both were really good, BUT the Sliced Porchetta with Apple and Marsala Reduction and Sweet Potato and Roast Apple Mash took first prize. The pork was tender and salted just right and the mash was sweet and smooth, so so good! The Flying Pig Focaccia was nice, but if you’re going specifically for the pork then I’d suggest you skip the Flying Pig altogether and go for the real Mccoy, but definitely order a side of Twice Fried Chips because YUM.

The rest of the menu is also available if you’re not in the mood for pork, but I’m writing this post for those of you out there who fist pumped the air when I mentioned the fact that you can order extra crackling in paragraph three!

Rosto is not the biggest of restaurants which I like, it’s sweet and laid back and definitely has that old-school Italian deli feel to it. It was pretty busy when we went so I would suggest perhaps booking beforehand.
