In 2012 I was paging through an Elle Decoration when I came across this super cool painted figure by an artist named Ali Aschman. She was hanging on someone’s wall and I knew that no matter what I wanted her sister or distant cousin hanging in my house too. So I mailed this talented young local artist who I found out was (now) based in New York (first sign that I was probably not going to get my wish) and asked her if she would make me one of her giant hooded beauties. As luck would have it, Ali just happened to be in Cape Town when I sent my mail through visiting her folks for a couple of weeks and so agreed to make me one heee. I was the most happy and for over a year this piece has been sitting wrapped up in my old flat, I decided not to hang it until Shane and I moved into our own place, she was hung up yesterday and she looks so super awesome in our living room.
I have included a few more pieces of her work so you can see just how talented she is…enjoy
What do you guys think of our new wall colour? We decided to be bold and go a dark blue/grey rather than just plain grey.
Looks amazing! Jealous! What is the wall colour brand and name, please?
Plascon Double Velvet Everest Blue 🙂
I also love the colour and the hooded girl, she looks so nice against that wall.
