On Friday it was my birthday and Shane and I spent the day out in the Magaliesburg area. We went for a picnic, with enough food to feed like 9 people and then we went horse riding on a farm. Now this is the funny thing about me and horses, I love them but I’m scared of them. So I want to go horse riding with all my heart, but then I won’t go faster than a trot and we all know trotting isn’t the most comfortable thing to do on a horse, you bounce all over the place, well at least I do. But anyway it was still fun and me and my horse Spirit got on very well.
Shane gave me my presents on the farm and I have to share them with you because they ar so damn cool. First of all he had this painting made of him and I by a very talented street painter named Mark. Mark made Desmond and the Tutus latest album cover (check it out here), I also used him to paint the big picture that went up in the Instant Grass offices Nick and I designed. He is one damn talented painter and what I like about his style is it’s not perfect but that’s what makes it perfect, if you know what I mean.
When I opened this gift I laughed so hard and I was so happy with it. It looks like Shane and I have been on a cruse ship for the last 17 years with absolutely no sunscreen ha! I love it and my favourite part is our teeth, I don’t know why but both our mouths make me laugh so much. I couldn’t have asked for a better rendition of the 2 of us and I can’t wait to hang it up in our new house.
Shane also bought me David Goldblatt’s book of photos of Johannesburg from 1948-2010. It is amazing and it’s full of such cool photographs from back in the day, from all angles and from both sides. Mr Goldblatt is one of my most favourite photographers so I was super chuffed to get this book.
