Mercantic Antique Store in Barcelona

July 11, 2009

hello-me

We landed in Barcelona today after flying for 8 and half hours and then again for another 2 and half  hours with a 2 hour stop over in Istanbul in between.

Shane and I arrived at our hotel, freshened up and then almost immediately left to try find this awesome antique-collectibles shop called Mercantic that we had read about. We did find it and I did nearly go crazy. It is by far the biggest antique store I have ever been in. It’s two huge floors of vintage furniture, vintage jewellery, figurines, art deco lights, sewing machines, antique toys etc – geez this list could go on and on. It was full of crazy goodness. Needless to say I bought a few things, but not a lot because the prices were not crazy cheap.

Here are a few shots of the inside of this place. If you ever go to Barcelona you have to go here – Mercantic c/Rius i Taulet 120, Sant Cugat del Valles. You will do your nut in. I promise.

I wanted half the things in the photos above. Obviously. I think I may go back though, for the framed cross-stitch that was made in the 1920’s. The price tag said 50 euros, which seems like a lot, but then I keep thinking that the taxi ride to our hotel this morning cost 50 euros, so is it really too pricey? Hmm….it’s so pretty aaaa.

* I will post my buys tomorrow.
