A couple of weeks ago Shane and I took a drive out to good old Pretoria to experience our first ever Harvest Festival at the historic Kleinkaap Boutique Hotel. I didn’t really know what to expect but damn did we have an awesome evening. The Kleinkaap Hotel is a nearly 100 years old and the property that it’s built on is so so pretty. When we arrived we were greeted by a huge Cape Dutch Manor house and two vintage cars parked in the driveway, it felt like we had stepped back in time.
Down in the expansive garden, they had set up four long Harvest Tables under a sky of fairy lights and oak trees. It was such an awesome sight. I don’t know if any of you have ever been to a dinner like this before, but basically what happens is you find a spot at the table and you introduce yourself to whoever is sitting next to and across from you and then mountains of food gets brought out and everyone shares and eats dinner together. It was actually really awesome and the food was delicious! We also got to listen to Georgetown Band for the first time ever, imagine Kings of Leon but more folky, they were so good!
Some of the food that was served came from the kitchen of Kleinkaap’s newest restaurant called 16th Lintel, they wanted to showcase its menu and showcase they did. We had all sorts of things from leek and fish pie to slow roasted beef to roast chicken and more and when dessert came out I literally had to undo my top button and zipper! I’m not kidding.
If you guys are looking for a beautiful setting to have something to eat then definitely try out 16th Lintel and if you are looking for an extra special eating out experience then you must attend one of their Harvest Table Festivals, you can even arrange one of your own, which for a birthday or special occasion would be amazing!
Ok that’s it for now, I can hear Nina James calling for me from the next room so I better skedaddle! Happy Friday everyone xx
