I don’t know about you guys but I’m always super happy when something new and shiny opens up in Johannesburg. More places to visit means more places to spend cash and more places to occupy your time and get you out of the house.
Keyes Art Mile in Rosebank has just recently opened its doors and brought with it an assortment of shops, showrooms, restaurants and art galleries all neatly packaged into one place that is literally just down the road. I popped out to Keyes Art Mile the other day to have a bit of a walkabout and I must say I’m really excited about this new edition to Rosebank. I’m a sucker for art and so the fact that there are now more than a few galleries to visit all within metres of each other is really awesome. Joining Circa, Speke and Everard Read are SMAC, Southern Guild and WHATIFTHEWORLD.
You will also find more than a couple of places to eat. Milk Bar (I had lunch here) has opened its second set of doors here which is perfect for a quick bite or a coffee and then there is BGR if you are in the mood for a good burger and chips. If you are wanting something a little fancier and by a little, I mean a lot, there is Marble which is owned by the amazing David Higgs so you know the food is going to be beyond awesome and the view from this restaurant is fantastic (this spot is getting a post f it’s own).
You will also find Shelflife which is a limited edition sneaker paradise and Missibaba which is any girl’s dream shop! They have so many beautiful handbags and belts, so boyfriends and husbands take note you will be in anyone’s good books if you arrive home bearing gifts from this shop! Keyes Art Mile is also home to Anatomy Design, Cassina, Flos, Kartell, Mesh, Okapi and True Design.
I really like this new development it feels really European and cool and makes for a really nice afternoon out, especially because of all the awesome galleries that surround it. Happy exploring.
