Henriette Botha and Churche teamed up at the beginning of August to design eight bespoke pieces of jewelry. Henriette wanted to celebrate women’s month with a #womenofmzansi photo portrait series that celebrated women of Mzansi, strong women with great stories that she felt needed to be shared and admired.
The eight women she chose were Moonchild Sanelly a designer and very talented musical artist. Pippa Tshabalala who is a presenter and digital animator, she works as a promo producer but is best known as the presenter of The Verge. Tarryn Crossman a gifted documentary film maker who has screened her films at festivals around the world and won awards for both her work. Guiyani Monteiro who is an entrepreneur who owns a concept lifestyle space called Ants. Elze Room a pastry chef like no other, she is the group executive chef Tashas. Amanda Sibiya and Charmaine Ngobeni who are the highly talented creatives and founders of Conte Magazine and Vuyiswe who owns Vusiwe Mashininini Productions (VMProductions) a home brewed production house offering a full rounded service in Photography and Video productions.
We had so much fun in Henriette’s studio hanging out with her mixing and matching materials to come up with these pieces that were as beautiful as all her other work, just a bit bigger and grander for the shoot. If you guys haven’t seen Henriette’s work you should check it out, she and her team make amazing beaded, crotched and jeweled pieces that will have you swooning from the rooftops.
Below is the whole series, I really hope you enjoy it.

This morning a grackle came really close to the kitchen window right in the sunlight, and the shimmery blue and green on black was incredible. I said, “someone should design clothes like this” and then here I am looking at this site and the first photo up there is exactly that. Grackle colors. Not even sure how I got here… by way of Shel Silverstein somehow… but you remind me of a good friend that is also an artist.
