Long version: Shane and I celebrated our one year wedding anniversary this weekend. So on Saturday morning we thought we would take a drive out to the clarens where we would have a nice lunch somewhere, find a bed and breakfast and spend the night. We did leave on saturday morning, but we didn’t land up in clarens. no no no. Instead we missed our turn-off and decided to just carry on towards Bloemofontien. We then saw an off-ramp for a place called Kroonstad, which we took and landed up having the best time ever.

On all the streetpoles in the town there were posters advertising the Kroonstad Skou, where amongst others, Snotkop was playing. we found the show, which was also a carnival and spent the day walking around, watching beauty pageants, eating biltong and having our photo taken by a professioneel fotograaf. We then found an awesome bed and breakfast, which we checked into before we went and found a pub to…wait for it… watch the rugby in. Yes we watched the Blue Bulls VS The Cheetahs while we ate T-bone steaks and we actually enjoyed it. the bar was packed with afrikaans people, with one in particular that took a liking to us. He even invited us to play pool after match. as we were about to start the game, he came up to us and said something in afrikaans, I smiled and nodded and then he left. shane just looked and me and asked if I knew what he had just said. i obviously didn’t get that he had just politely excused himself from our pool game to go have a fist fight outside. 6 minutes later he came back in all bloody and banged up, we quickly left after that, but we still had a very nice time – oh man this sounds dodgy, but we did. We then went back to the carnival where we got to watch Snotkop. I was expecting a hardcore afrikaans rapper, but instead we were entertained by a very well mannered man dressed in a glittery Ed Hardy t-shirt, who sang lots of songs about soene, meisies and jou reg to paaaaarty. It was a-ma-zing.

In the morning shane and I went to a place that breeds white lions. The man that drove us around and very close to these awesome cats (I was kakking, as the afrikaans would say, myself) was super awesome himself. we even got to pet some of them – they were beautiful. We’re going back at the end of November, when they have cubs, which you can hold. Anyone want to come with? Come come. Wow this post is damn long. Sorry. We had an excellent time. The end.

Hey I just wanted to let you know, I actually like the writing on your web site. But I am utilising Chromium on a machine running version 8.x of Crashbang Ubuntu and the look and feel aren’t quite proper. Not a serious deal, I can still essentially read the articles and look for for info, but just wanted to inform you about that. The navigation bar is kind of hard to use with the config I’m running. Keep up the good work!
