GIVEAWAY: Sanlam Food Wine Design Fair

October 25, 2013

angie-kinder

Ok so it’s Friday and  at the beginning of the week I said I was going to start a cool giveaway today, so here you go. Not only am I giving away 5 sets of double tickets to the Food Wine Design Fair but I also have a R3000 unit trust from Sanlam Investments to give to someone to help them save towards a lifetime dream.

We all have them, I’ve always wanted to dive face first like Scrooge Mc Duck into a massive vault full of kinder eggs, will it ever happen? Damn straight it will! As long as I still have the ability to dive and a mouth as big as mine, I will make this dream come true one day. And hopefully we can help one of your dreams come true too. I also have some great Marvelous Wine hampers to giveaway, this label came about when a chef, a winemaker and an entrepreneur happily collaborated to bring about 3 cool wines called Shazam!, Kaboom! and Ka-Pow!

So maybe you’re wondering how you stand a chance to win one of these 5 cool prizes? This is how:

1. Leave me a short comment telling me what you would one day use your unit trust for, what is the one thing you have been dying to do or go or eat or see.

2. Tweet or blog about this giveaway and I’ll give you another entry into the competition, just make sure you use these 2 tags @miss_luckypony and #FoodWineDesign. Let me know by leaving the link to your tweet or post in your comment.

3. Giveaway ends soooooon, so enter quick. Draw date is 1 November 2013, one week from now.

1st prize: Double tickets to Sanlam Investments FoodWineDesign Fair AND a R3000 unit trust from Sanlam Investments.

4 x runner up prizes: Double tickets to the Fair as well as a hamper of 3 x bottles of wine from newcomers Marvelous Wines.

What a great giveaway! I have 4 kids, so every little bit that can be stashed away and/or invested to grow will come in handy somewhere along the line, whether it be used toward a college/university fund, a year’s wardrobe, a deposit for a car or any number of other things. Ideally, I would like to build up a nice chunk of savings to cushion any kind of financial mishaps we may encounter along the way. Once we’ve built up a reasonable sum, we can then start contributing the monthly premiums we would normally pay to various insurance companies to this savings account. By doing so, we ensure that we’re still covered for any catastrophic events but we’re not giving away several thousand Rand per month for *in case* something bad happens…

  • anna-marie October 25, 2013 at 2:47 pm

I’ve always wanted to go to Japan, just because I am fascinated with the massive cultural difference. Every other country I’ve been to seems to have some similarities to here, Japan seems to have none. So the money would have to be put towards that.

  • Lynn October 28, 2013 at 11:06 am

Id let the unit trust mature, and plan 1 month break, road trip through the eastern, northern and western cape. I’ve always bragged about travelling overseas, but I think getting to experience SA would be more fitting, at first.

  • Thea October 28, 2013 at 12:39 pm

I would start saving for my future child (or children). I really want to go to Greece, it just looks amazing!
    So excited about DearRae’s jewellery!!

I would put the unit trust aside until the end of next year or beginning of 2015 when I will hopefully be able to put it towards a deposit on buying a little flat, or at least a deposit on renting my own place once I graduate next year and need to move out. Alternatively, I would use it to take a cross country road trip with my beloved, something we’ve dreamed of since we started dating 3 years ago 🙂

If you follow the links below, you will see some things that I have kept over the years. They are my journals/idea books/poems/novel ideas and there are a lot of them. Whether or not there might be a best-seller in there (or three) I would love the TIME to explore them. Even just for me. Obviously, I would help find a super-good enough person to fill my shoes at work (seeing as I work at the best restaurant in town) and would only use my investment once it had built up properly. If I could – I would take six to ten months off from the world, staying somewhere remote but definately by the sea and mountains, to explore the piles of these books that have things I haven’t seen since they came out of my pen years ago! That would be really really nice. Oh – and I’d get my butt in gear and get a photographic portfolio together as well as go for singing lessons once a week.

It may just be the 6 year old in me yearning to find elegance and wonder in the world again, but I would use the money to help fund my dream of traveling to St Petersburg, in the snow, and watching Swan Lake at the Mariinsky Theatre. Specific I know, but I was there as a young girl, and missed the ballet by the skin of my teeth.

  • Amy H October 31, 2013 at 8:35 am

I would use my unit trust towards a foodie experience close to home. I am passionate about vegetarian cooking, not the rabbit food kind but the ‘oh-my-god-I-didn’t-even-realise-there-is-no-meat-in-this’ kind. There is a chef called Daniel Jardim who (I believe) makes the best vegetarian food in all of South Africa. He cooks for the Buddhist Retreat Centre in Ixopo, KZN and he offers courses where you can learn his various recipes while chilling out in beautiful scenery in the mountains. I’ve been cooking from his cookbooks for a few years and it would be a dream to learn from the man himself!

First step, to invest and watch it grow. Second step, re-invest and watch it grow some more. Third step, giving back to my folks who given so much to get me where I am today. Pension schemes don’t go very far these days and I’d love for them to have a comfortable retirement. They put me on my own pension path at the age of 25 – a good investment by any parent!
