Face face happy face.

January 22, 2013

A few of you sent me mails about what skincare products I use, so I thought I would do a quick post on some of the things I slather on my mugg and my opinion of them.

I’m not one of those people who buy “fancy” over-priced products that promise to make you look younger, firmer, brighter, like Beyonce, like a baby lamb on it’s first day in the world. I like things that smell nice, yes I fall for that and I like things that I can really feel makes my skin soft and happy – a feeling that I know is real and not manufactured from the guilt that comes from spending R700 on a moisturiser that some famous rockstar’s wife endorsers.

Anyway, these are the products I use:

Olay Total Effects day moisturiser that is so nice and light and doesn’t make my skin feel like I’ve plastered a vat of bacon fat on it. I also use Olay Total Effects Instant Smoothing Serum which is lovely. I use this before I moisturise, it sinks in immediately and makes my skin feel super smooth, it’s like extra moisture for your face which I don’t think is ever a bad thing.

I also use a eye cream, this is one piece of advice from my granny (who has such amazing skin for her age) I have stuck to. I haven’t been using one for long, probably about 3 years now but I will never stop. I have bounced between quite a few and the one I’m using now is quite pricey because it comes from Metropolitan in Sandton, but I have heard from 2 friends that this brand is pretty good so I’m trying it out. So far, so good, but I must be honest every eye cream I have used up to this point feels like it has the same effect on the skin around my eyes – it keeps it’s moisturised and that is that, I can’t say that I have seen a definite change in the area surrounding my eye but I can say that I feel better knowing that I’m giving it some extra love.

Another thing I tried the other night, for the first time was this hydrating face mask, which I slapped on and then almost freaked myself out with when I looked in the mirror. I seriously looked like a crazy serial killer that hates the world because sunshine and laughter makes them want to hurt something. I kept looking in the mirror and then nervously laughing.

Anyway…. this mask was pretty cool, it was soaked in like a cold serum and it felt really nice on my face. You have to keep it on for 20 minutes, which I did and then afterwards my skin felt really hydrated but not in a magical way, like on the TV, but in a I’ve done something nice for my face and i’m enjoying the after effects way, even though by tomorrow they will have disappeared.

*Well I hope you have enjoyed this very random post, if you have any favourites you would like to share please do so, I’m amped to hear about them and I’m sure someone else will be too xx

    Hi Angie…
Thanx for the post, think im going to give eye cream a shot!
I love love love Dermalogica’s sheer tint moisturiser.. Its SPF 15, provides an oil-free hydration and has a slight tint which works well considering my troubled acne skin hence I don’t do much foundation during a normal day. I highly recommend it!

I honestly swear by the Skin Science range! The appearance of my face has improved sooo much since I started using it, and it’s not too expensive too.

o, and I love that Milky foot product! You can never go wrong with Revlon nail polish.
