Eyelash extensions-4

I am one of those people that have never had long eyelashes. I have never had someone marvel at them while uttering these words “Holy crap your lashes are long. I’m so jealous!”. Nope never heard that phrase or any variant of it and that’s probably because my eyelashes are pretty normal in length and thickness, I guess you would call them the Danny DeVitos of the eyelash world. So when Sarah, my wonderful sister-in-law who owns her own on-the-go beauty salon called Serenity at Work came round to my house to give myself and Anna-Belle eyelash extensions I was beyond excited.

I’ve never had a treatment like this before so I was eager to see if it would make a difference to my eyes and super happy that it did. The procedure takes about an hour and a bit and you have to lie down with your eyes closed the whole time, it was actually pretty awesome not looking at my phone for an hour and just chilling. I guess it helps that I was in my own house because it meant that I could stay in my stretchy pants and have whatever music I like playing in the background. I’m sorry but I hate it when you go to a salon and they play what sounds like whales attempting to master the panpipe. It doesn’t relax me, in fact it does the opposite, play nicer music guys!

Anyway I digress, lets get back to the topic of long eyelashes…Like I said it takes about an hour and 15 mins to complete and that is because the process involves having between 75-100 individual eyelashes being incorporated in-between your actual lashes to give you a full natural look that doesn’t require mascara. So if you are anything like me and cry while watching So You Think You Can Dance or children plating up on Masterchef Junior then these are just for you. Goodbye mascara run and hello cry as much as you want.

For a full set of lashes the initial cost is R600 and then to fill them costs between R250 to R300 depending on your lashes and this only has to be done about once a month. I feel like it has made such a difference to my eyes so I was more than happy to pay the eyelash piper. Oh and by the way the best part is you don’t even notice they’re there, another thing I was a bit worried about.
