Die Skim Grot.

May 31, 2011

On Saturday Jo face and I went for ice-cream at one of the oldest ice-cream parlours in Pretoria. The decor is nothing to look at because they’ve tried to revamp it and make it modern, yuk, but the ice-cream is awesome, definitely no yuks! Anyway why we were actually there was to go to Die Skim Grot. For those of you who have no idea what i’m talking about or do not understand afrikaans and don’t have a flying clue as to what the hell a skim grot is don’t worry, I shall explain in the English.

Lets start with the definition for Skim Grot: a phantom cave. Next I will explain what it is: a place where you can buy lovely art/illustration and jewelry and clothes (vintage and new) and biscuits and slush puppies and ceramics. But it’s not only a place where you can spend sweet dollar on some cool stuff, they also have various bands playing throughout the day and DJ’s and a bar. So all in all you are looking at a whole day filled with awesomeness. It’s only happening once a month, I think the next one is on July the 2nd, but just mail them here to find out more details, like whose playing etc.

The space that they are hosting it in is very cool. Jo and I didn’t have time to stay for the bands, but next time I would really like to, think it could be lots of fun. So for those of you who are looking for a day out, check Die Skim Grot out. Oooh also, they are still looking for cool products to sell in their cave, so if you think you have something that might interest them, why not drop them a klien e-possie.

Shane and I are selling out ceramic men and jets there and Jo and I have some Hello Fox for sale too x x

Oh, how awesome! That Ice-cream place looks familiar, is it in Gordon road behind the PURE coffee shop?
If it is, it used to be an awesome Ice-cream parlour called Milky Cove. We went the all the time when we were little and my dad went there when he was young… I was so sad when they sold the place about 8years ago:(

Looks amazing. I do find it weird that ‘phantom cave’ would be used to describe that list of things though… you crazy cats xxx
